It is nighttime here, now, and Aloha Tower is

lit up beautifully, for us to see across the water, from our berth at Pier 2.

Beautiful!

Aloha:). PS - the hula group from here performed in the Princesd Theater, tonight. Lovely and moving:). They finished with "Surround Me With Love" and then "Aloha Oe".

Cruisin'Rabbit, I noticed that you list Original in some of the ships; it this like before renovation? Also which has been your fav Princess ship and why?

Thank you so much for posting.

We will be on the Ruby's Hawaii cruise on April 18. Can you please answer a few questions if possible? (Our first time to Hawaii and first time on Princess, hence SO many questions) Thanks so much.

*Is there an unlimited internet package on the Ruby? How much?

*How much are the Lotus Spa Thermal Suite passes for the cruise?

*Does the Thermal Suite have windows looking out to the ocean?

*How much is the Sanctuary pass?

*Anything "Not to be Missed" or "Must Do"?

*Pearl Harbor: We booked Arizona Memorial tickets for 8 am from their website. Any info on when we should leave, transport, etc?

Please keep posting info about your cruise when you can. I will be looking forward to reading every bit! Thanks again:)

The original ships were smaller, in the 80s, before the ones with the current names. The original Sun Princess was only 18,000 tons! Almost a yacht !

The best ever was the original Royal Princess, at 46,000 tons. A beautiful promenade deck! It had old world inspired cuisine and service. All outside rooms!

What a ship!

Our ship cleared for disembarkation at 7:27am, in Honolulu.

You might need a later time at Pearl.

I will write more tonight, when I have a keyboard. I am on tour right now.

Aloha!

I am looking at the Internet price list right now. Examples: 200 minutes for $99. 400 minutes for $159. 600 minutes for $199. (In Hawaii, my cell phone Internet works great! So I would count on that for the time you are in Hawaii.)

Pearl Harbor is far away from Pier 2. There is also morning Honolulu traffic to consider. If I were going independently, I would leave two hours ahead of time. It might take the cab 45 minutes. A bus might take longer. You have to get to the entrance for the Pearl Harbor movie and shuttle to the Memorial. You have to go from where the cab drops you off to the entrance of the Visitors' Center and then to the movie entrance. It takes a while. There are wonderful exhibits to view, while waiting for your appointed time. Go early.

Don't miss the Hula presentation, in the evening in the Princess Theater, when the ship is in Honolulu. It is spectactular!

For me, another highlight is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, if you are interested in geology and nature. It is quite a sight. (Big Island.)

Almost anything you do on Kauai is is fantastic. Many tours cover the fabulous sights. Enjoy!

I am an active person, and I do lots of walking, running, and working out. So... I don't know about prices for the Spa and the Sanctuary. I am sure others here on Cruise Critic can answer those questions. A Google search might provide the answers, too.

Have a great time in Hawaii!

Aloha!

When we went a few years ago, we had to be there an hour before our assigned time or they would give our tickets away.

Aloha! Did the casino open while in Hawaii? On our Princess Hawaiian cruises, they left the casino closed until the return trip. Thanks and enjoy the rest of your cruise!

Aloha there!

I can't speak about the Ruby (I only get to go on my first cruise in May, and it's on the Ruby!) but I can give you advice on Honolulu, since I live here =D

I agree with all the other posters, you need a later time for Pearl Harbor, because there's no guarantee you'll make 8 AM. If you can get a 9 or 10 AM ticket, you'll feel much less stressed. I suggest grabbing a cab TO pearl harbor if you want to do it independently of a tour, and then you can catch the #42 bus from the main highway back to the ship if you want to do it on the cheap (but it will take a lot of time). Don't forget about the other attractions at the Arizona Memorial site; The USS Bowfin, the USS Missouri and the Pacific Aviation Museum. If you or those you travel with like WWII history, those are very good options. So yeah, make sure to either switch or buy later Arizona Memorial tickets ASAP. Oh, and remember tons of other people from your ship will be visiting Pearl Harbor as well, so if you miss your ticket time, there's less of a chance you can jump in easily on a later ticket.

If you have the option, see if you can go to the Polynesian Cultural Center- definitely a great option to visit on O'ahu! If time doesn't permit it because of Pearl Harbor, then try a Luau- Germaine's Luau I know does independent reservations with pick up & drop off from the pier, and they are good fun! Ordering a luau through the boat probably takes you to Paradise Cove luau, which is beautiful but also not quite a real 'party' and relaxed luau like Germaine's.

On the other islands, you'll find much more beautiful scenery than on O'ahu (not that we don't have out share, we do!). Since we are the most populated island though, I would say do Pearl Harbor and Polynesian Cultural Center, or at least Pearl Harbor and a Luau. You'll have a blast. :D

Pearl harbor is a must see for me, even if it's just the Arizona memorial. I am going to cry a truck load of tears if I do not get to see it. Its not often that I would get to go to Hawaii, since I live on the east coast:(

I will try and change the ticket time or get new ones or join a local tour.

We are going to a luau in the evening with a group from the group of people on our roll call.

Hawaii gambling law still prohibits gambling or casino aboard shios off the coast of Hawaii.
