js4rq Posted April 7, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2016 (edited) Hi! I know it does not matter whether your cabin is on port or starboard side for the Panama canal transit; however I am wondering if anyone know which side the ship usually faces the dock for the partial Panama canal cruise ports, ie Limon etc? We would like to have a cabin on that side, if possible ;) Cheers :D Edited April 7, 2016 by js4rq
CruiserBruce Posted April 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2016 It is not predictable. The ship will dock on the side that suits the needs of the ship that day, and the harbor.
cb at sea Posted April 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2016 There are views EVERYWHERE! If you stay on your balcony, you will miss 3/4 of the sights! In other words...the side of the ship doesn't matter. YOU MUST GET OUT and move about!
js4rq Posted April 12, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted April 12, 2016 Thanks for the replies! We have booked a balcony on the port side. Oh, don't worry! We won't be confined to our balcony. We will be going out on deck to enjoy the view approaching ports and see the Panama canal locks! :D
Putterdude Posted May 4, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2016 We had a starboard side cabin for an east west transit (actually north south) and were very happy with what we saw, however we would likely choose a port side next time only for the change in scenery. pamssanity Posted September 28, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 28, 2016 We are doingthis cruise for the second time. Last cruise we had a starboard side balcony and would have missed a great deal if we stayed in our room. Not sure which ship you are on but we were on HAL and they opend the front of the ship which is usually locked for passengers. We were out their really early as soon as they announced that it was open to grab a spot by the rail tow atch the workings of the mule and such. We again booked port side so we can stay in our rooms until the sun comes up at least.
