Too much OBC

For our upcoming 12 night cruise we ended up with $850 in OBC. PLUS pre paid gratuities. We don't do the spa thing so that is not a place we would blow any significant money. Because it's such a port intensive itinerary with 8 and 9 hour tours we won't be deck sitting sucking down $8 drinks. All tours, including Celebrity's have been prepaid.

So, where are we going to spend $850? Some of the funds come from Celebrity when we booked the cruise onboard the last sailing, $300 comes from the Go Perk thing. $150 comes from our TA.

Never had OBC left over before. What type of OBC is refundable and what is forfeited if not used?

We had $,$$$ in shipboard credit on a Regent cruise once... (prepaid excursions, tips/beverages etc) so and even after caviar tastings etc had leftover credit. Went shopping before the on-board stores closed. 2 watches, shirts, ties, etc. It can be a nice "problem" to have...

On last summers Eclipse--the any extra OBC from our TA was put on our credit cards ... the charges start with any OBC from Celebrity and then move to the TA OBCs...

We had $600 OBC plus beverage package and prepaid tips as perks for a recent sailing. We bought an Apple iPad Air from the computer place onboard :)

If you buy an Apple computer onboard, can you take it to any Apple Store in the future, if you have problems or just want help? Do you get a full Apple warrantee? Is this a authorized Apple dealer fully covered by Apple? Thank you.

It's an actual official Apple reseller Store... So all goods will come with the full Apple warranty (which I believe is a worldwide warranty) [emoji4]

If they would just have pay per view Adult Movies in the cabins then that would be a great place for OBC spending.

Who wants a tote-bag that says Celebrity Cruises on it.

My idea would be well received and it would make many pax way more happier than any drink package or sea-shell earnings from the gift shop.

Such a problem, right? A first world problem if ever there was one. What DO I DO with so much money on my beautiful ocean cruise?!!!

We have $1450 OBC on our cruise next March! And that's WITH prepaid gratuities, premium beverage package and unlimited internet. Got $300 for booking a suite on board, $350 OBC with the promotion, then we transferred to out favorite online TA who gave us $800 more on board credit. We just have a sky suite so it's not like we're in the PH or something. When we booked, the promotion was all 4 perks and upgrade to premium beverage. So really all inclusive, and with a sky suite it truly seems like it will be.

So....we are going to use it on a golf excursion for DH, we'll cash out a couple hundred for cash tips for butler and others throughout the cruise, we'll buy a couple good bottles of wine above our package, we'll hopefully get a chef's table if there is one, and maybe one of those excursions with the chef in port and the dinner that night. And we'll still have probably $400 or so to put back on the card.

As has been suggested, the Apple store has normal prices MINUS the tax, so a savings there if you need or want something. Or a Kors bag. Guess you could play a lot of Bingo!

We had "only" $850 on our last cruise and used it for upgrading to premium beverage package and additional cash tips and a couple things here or there, but nearly $400 was put back on our credit card.

I tried to "cash out" in the casino and was told "strongly" that I would not be allowed to do that. She said she would give me chips or slot credit but once it was in the machine I would have to play all of it but could pull out any winnings. She made a point to tell me "don't think you will be able to pull cash out". I didn't, I took her word for it. We were new to Celebrity so I did not think it would be a problem because I had read and talked to so many people who have done it. It is a pretty recent change I guess.

Yes, this change happen around 3 months or so ago,

But you don't have to use all that you put in at once, if you put in $100 and only bet $50 you can transfer the other $50 back to your card to use another day/time!

If while betting the $50 you lost you won anything these winnings you will be able to cash out as a voucher then cash it out at the desk for hard cash! [emoji4]

if anyone is on the may1st - may7th summit cruise to bermuda and has too much obc, best thing to do is order up some champagne, soda and juice, and have it delivered to room #6147.

I'll take it from there.

lmao

We have ($450 from Celebrity & $325 from our TA) on our May cruise to Alaska, not to mention all the other 4 perks. We definitely plan to come home with the $325 and of course spend the rest. Next year we have even more, but will still return from the Norwegian fjords with our TA's OBC. That is just the way we think about money, always saving something!:)

Too funny! But doesn't "cabin" 6147 come with champagne, soda and juice anyway?!? You can't fool us! :D

We did the "cash out" at the Casino. Cancelling your tours would be the best thing to do.

You can always splash it at the Ilounge to buy an ipad or of course some nice Bling !!!!! My last cruise the OBC went towards the Bling. I had no choice because didn't need an Ipad. That's my story & I am sticking to it.

How do you cash out from the casino?

How do you cash out from the casino?

You cant now. Celebrity have put a stop to the practice. Prior to Christmas it was possible to cash in non refundable OBC through the Casino for cash for a 5% fee. Now if you want to use non refundable OBC in the casino you get issued promotional chips which have the same face value as normal chips but cannot be redeemed for cash.

The cashing of non refundable OBC was in reality a scam operated by passengers to get "non entitled" cash. If one has refundable OBC like that given by a TA it can be redeemed from Guest relations on the last day of the cruise

Then send a masseuse.

Send a shore excursion.

Or better yet send 6147's wife and kids ON an excursion and THEN send the masseuse.

Hey, i'm only trying to help. This is a community you know.

We've always cashed out our non-refundable OBC at the casino. Pay the 3% or so. Unfortunately, I was informed by a friend who is onboard the Silhouette at the moment that it is no longer possible. What they do now is they give you fake chips from the cage. Then when you're playing, you get real chips if you win. I found that very unfair because what if you took the 100 OBC and won 5 hands at the casino without losing a hand and decide to leave? Then you'll end up with 100 fake chips and only 50 cashable chips..

That's not the way it works. If you bet $100 in non-refundable chips, you've done your part and those chips are gone as soon as you place the bet. If you win $50 on the bet, they pay out in cashable chips for the entire $150 you are due.

oh thats not so bad then. If it's a push they'll still swap them?

Just curious, if you have lots of OBC and you don't have pre-paid gratuities can that OBC be used toward gratuities? I have traditional seating for dinner.

Thanks

Yes. OBC shows up as a credit to your onboard account. Any monies that are charged to your cabin, including gratuities, will be deducted from your credit. It basically operates just like your checkbook.

The only thing I've found you can't use it on, is to book another cruise.
