How long to clear customs at Barcelona Airport?

Recommended Posts

Since this last post is 4 years old, any updates to it?  I'm tracking my AA flight 112 MIA-BCN during the course of the year and so far it averages arrival around 8 a.m.  I would need to collect luggage, get to Hotel Jazz to drop off, then to HOHO bus at Placa de Catalunya (only a few block walk from Hotel Jazz) in order to be at Park Guell by 11 a.m.  Is this doable???

Assuming your plane arrives on time, you should easily be able  to make it to the HOHO at Placa de Catalunya. Deplaning and collecting your checked luggage takes the most time - passport control is quite quick (possibly a few minute wait - we have never waited more than about 5 - 10 minutes) and then through "nothing to declare" in a flash. Taxi from airport to Hotel Jazz (leaving airport between 9 - 9:30 am) should take between 30-45 minutes (in only one instance, it took us an hour).

So, quick luggage drop at your hotel & then walk over to Placa de Catalunya to catch the HOHO ... I believe that 3 hours is ample time. However, I have no idea how long it would take to reach Park Guell from Placa Catalunya via HOHO - that, to me, would be the "fly in the ointment"

I would advise taking a taxi from your hotel to Park Guell. That is the only way to be sure you will make it on time.  Taxis are cheap. You can take the Ho-Ho back from the park if you wish.

This would also be my advice.  We did this a couple of years ago.  The kicker was there was a baggage handler work action so we were delayed 90 minutes waiting for our baggage.  However,  a taxi was sitting right outside Hotel Jazz to take us there.  Very reasonable fare considering there were four of us.
