Hi all I'm after general help and information. Me n my partner booked a west med cruise October 2017 on ncl epic for us to get married on with our daughter who will be 8 at time of cruise. When we booked we presumed no one else would come however how wrong was I we have know got 30 close friends and family have booked don't get me wrong I'm over the moon that they all want to be part of our special week but I'm more on edge then what I thought id be...basically anybody got married on there and is there anything I can do to run smooth :confused:

I'm in the process of getting everything together to get married on a cruise this summer with NCL. There is a LOT of paperwork involved so if they haven't already done it, they should immediately get familiar with the requirements from Royal Ocean Events. (Certified / Notarized documents will be required, some with accompanying Apostilles which I never even heard of before this.

 

For every 7 rooms you book, one person of the wedding party is entitled to a free room. I'm not sure of the fine print and details of this but I'd ask your PCC about it.

 

I took detailed notes of every single thing required which I'm going to post so other people can benefit from it since I couldn't find it on here myself.

First, congrats! Second, I am hoping that because it is a cruise you will have less to do regarding anyone's arrangements/entertainment etc. Don't feel responsible for their vacations! I am sure that you will all be bumping into one another here and there, and maybe getting together in large or small groups deliberately beyond the ceremony/celebration, but it is still your wedding cruise/honeymoon. ENJOY!:D

I wouldn't really concern myself too much...it will be nice to have "friends" aboard, but they KNOW you're on your honeymoon....so do what you want, when you want! They will do the same!

This is simply a great excuse for them to have a nice week!

There is a section in cruise critic just for weddings, I found it so helpful when we got married and were on the pearl. Give it a go

Hope it goes better than the one we saw on the Escape. The wedding party was so drunk they were kicked off before the ship left port. The brides father got into a fight before he got onto the ship. NCL said he could stay for the wedding but must leave as soon as it was over:eek:

It's not NCL-specific, but it might have some good ideas, and certainly thoughts/comments from folks with similar concerns and dreams.

Has anybody got any ideas how I could make it a little bit special and to show our thanks for joining us on the cruise

I didn't get married on a cruise ship, but I spent my honeymoon on one. You'll love having all the friends and family with you to celebrate throughout the cruise. About midweek through our cruise we said we wished we would have gotten married on the boat and had our close family and friends to party with the whole week.

 

As far as doing something nice for your guests, I would ask NCL about ordering chocolate covered strawberries for each guest room upon embarkation that would be a nice touch and include a thank you note from you. Or you could have each room decorated with a Bon Voyage Package. I know for our wedding we had little packages put together for each couple as they were checking into the hotel. You could do something like that and include battery operated candles, massage oil, packaged rose petals, etc.

Some couples have a quiet ceremony and get married beforehand.

When you have your shipboard "wedding" you will have all of the romance, none of the paperwork😍

My best friend got married in April 2016 on the Gem--there were 10 of us celebrating. She had a 2 hour event planned that included the wedding, some hors d'oeuvres, and cake cutting. She had boxes of sweet treats from a local bakery delivered to our room with a cute note that thanked us for celebrating with them. They made reservation in the main dining room that night and we all enjoyed dinner together. The brought the remainder of her cake and we all ate that for dessert with a wine toast to the happily married new couple.

 

We weren't expecting to hang out with them for the week; we saw each other around the ship and all did our own thing. Several of us did book the Jeep excursion so we all did that together and it was plenty of time with the bride and groom. Your guests will probably not expect you to pump out food and drinks to them; but a little note thanking them personally would be a great touch...and probably cost you minimal for the paper and pen :)

 

Now that I have been on 12 cruises and this last cruise was a wedding cruise, I would probably just have the ceremony with the officiant and then pay for everyone to go to Moderno (or a specialty restaurant) for a very filling meal together. That would have been a perfect plan for me and no stress :) and fairly inexpensive. The cruise provides for all the food and drink all week so i wouldn't pay for anything like that. We did meet up in the casino because the bride entered the slot tournament and she made it to the semifinals...that was so much fun cheering her on.....

 

As a guest, i didn't expect the bride and groom to pay for my drinks or food or any excursions. i was expecting to see a beautiful ceremony and I certainly did :) I am sure your guests will feel the same. We all loved the thank you note and the local bakery sweet treats. love love love
