gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #526 Share Posted May 19, 2016 (edited) Then we went to dinner in Tepa. This is always a real treat, and you get to meet people and have some fun. We enjoyed this one much more than the time on Breakaway when the lady got sick at the table  and our table had a large group of foreigners who kept to themselves. The table next to us was half way through their dinner. Edited May 19, 2016 by gambee
gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #527 Share Posted May 19, 2016 First, they bring you some edamame. That is followed by a miso soup. I got a martini, and I am not sure what mom got. Shaken, not stirred! At one point the chef came and introduced himself. He was really good, and by the end of the dinner he had memorized all of our names. I am horrible with names, I really have to work on that. ****! What was his name??? He was doing a little introductory show.
gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #528 Share Posted May 19, 2016 They also bring you a little salad. I have to say, they serve way too much food in this restaurant. Don’t fill up on those starters! Two sauces, both really good. One was ginger, and the other I can't remember.
gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #529 Share Posted May 19, 2016 He did a little flower first. Then he wrote happy birthday! Although not for mom, we never told him. After that, he mixed the rice with the eggs. Most of the people at our table got the chicken. It was just us and another lady with seafood. gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #530 Share Posted May 19, 2016 The vegetables were amazing, but I could not fill up on them. The funny thing is that he asked who wanted the extra veggies, and I pointed to my mom’s plate. She was not thrilled with that. That was my calamari. I got a refill on my drink. Mom always ends up eating the olives  The rice was great, and so were my scallops and calamari! Very tasty, especially with those sauces. Mom’s fillet was great as well. gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #531 Share Posted May 19, 2016 The lobster on the other hand tasted like it had been marinating in salt for a week. It was ridiculously salty! Mom could not eat it due to her blood pressure. I ate a little of mine, but I could not do that much of it. No worries, mom still has plenty of lobster left on this trip. Is anyone keeping tabs on how many lobsters she has eaten? I think the lobster population is endangered species after this cruise :D They only have 2 desserts available, and I really don’t care for either. Green tea cake. And fruits, but then again, who has room left for dessert?
gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #532 Share Posted May 19, 2016 Everyone at our table had left, and mom and I were just relaxing there :D Eventually, when I could walk we left the restaurant. I think this one was made for me! How cool is it?
gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #533 Share Posted May 19, 2016 Like I said, they have really cool art. This one would go really well with the sailboat decor in my room. Then we walked around, mom wanted to check out the Spanish lady on the Sky Line bar. She was ok, but lacked confidence.
gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #534 Share Posted May 19, 2016 I guess at one point I went into the area between moderno and cagneys. I heard mix reviews on moderno. Prime Meridian is the bar in the middle of both restaurants. The tables right behind it have a great view down to the Manhattan restaurant. gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #535 Share Posted May 19, 2016 That is the view looking down at the Manhattan restaurant. From what I hear it can get loud in the Manhattan room, to avoid that I recommend going to Sabor or Taste.
gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #536 Share Posted May 19, 2016 I forgot to mention that at one point I met a lady who works for NCL. She told me that the issue with all the changes is that they are not told fast enough. And a lot of times people call and they know more than the ones selling them the cruise. I told mom I wanted to check out the H2O movie. The aft movie screen and sounds is outstanding, unlike Oasis dead pixels aft screens. It makes for an excellent viewing experience, and the Jacuzzis open! Just amazing, I wish I had the time to watch a full movie on this incredible screen! gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #537 Share Posted May 19, 2016 On the way out. I am not sure if I have talked about this yet, but I will mention it anyway. The running track is in a really bad place, mainly because there is a lot of traffic in that area. To make things worse, there is a place by the arcade with tables and chairs. Most smokers in the morning would go there and sit and smoke. So basically every time a runner would go past them they would get a nice cloud of smoke to go through. NCL should rethink that area. gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #538 Share Posted May 19, 2016 I never got going to the marketplace. Quite honestly, that would be a nice place to add more loungers.
gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #539 Share Posted May 19, 2016 We were supposed to meet up with the group later on, so we went to the Pub to check out what was going on. The Pub entertainment is to die for, he is just great! He is really engaging, and he sings really good music. Ex, cats in the cradle, Sweet Caroline, I'm a believer. And he is just a very funny guy. I have no idea how many hats he must have behind that keyboard.
gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #540 Share Posted May 19, 2016 I got my usual. Still had a little of my dinner martini. We enjoyed our time there.
gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #541 Share Posted May 19, 2016 There was a couple fighting there, but it looked like was going to kill her. All she was trying to do was to calm him down, and talk to him. They eventually stormed out of there. At one point someone farted really bad, and the group in front of me tried blaming it on me. I told them, no, no, no, I take credit if it's mine, this was not me :D. I am pretty sure it was the guy’s wife, she looked quite suspicious. Dance girl!!! gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #542 Share Posted May 19, 2016 Then we went to 5 o’clock bar and met with the others in the group. I am not sure who’s drink that is, maybe mom’s? A cargo ship in the distance. He goes by the chocolate cowboy, what a character :D
gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #543 Share Posted May 19, 2016 I stayed at the bar until around midnight and so did mom this time. I kept asking her if she wanted to leave, but she said she was having a good time. The problem is that I can have a dirty mouth and a very dark sense of humor. While she is well aware of it, there are segments of that humor that I still keep to friends only. So it was hard restraining myself from sexual humor. They were all mad at me for getting a beer, LoL. I know my limits, and I was quite close to it! Ty and I. Great times! It was really funny, Ty kept asking me about Vibe, and talking like it was some kind of exclusive club. I kept reminding him that he had his chance to get it. He took this pic :D
gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #544 Share Posted May 19, 2016 After some time we went to bed, the next day was a port day and I wanted to make sure that I got the most out of it. Before leaving we all agreed to meet in the Atrium since we were all going to Coki beach the next day. When we got to the room we had a big surprise. Actually, when I opened the door, I thought I was in the wrong room. Now it is unclear who actually send this to us, mainly because we had a card from Sean and Ro. Ro told us that she informed her manager and that is how it started. And that makes sense, because she was actually the only one who knew it was my mom’s bday. Then again, NCL does have her birth date. Either way, she was so happy about it, and I was grateful that they did that for her. It was a really nice of them. And please do not forget about John, our cabin steward. Who was most likely the one who had to this.
gambee Posted May 19, 2016 Author #545 Share Posted May 19, 2016 I moved all them to the sofa where they stayed for the rest of the cruise :) One thing to note is that I am not fond of the rubber smell from the balloons. That night I was too tired to do something about it. But eventually we took them all down. It was the hell of a day, one for the books and never to be forgotten. And even better now that it is all here for everyone to enjoy :) Next up, St Thomas with the gang! Day 3, end.
CruisinHarvey Posted May 19, 2016 #546 Share Posted May 19, 2016 It's good to see Beau is still in the brew house. I can't believe he's still on board. Happy about it though. We're back on June 11th. Keeping our fingers crossed he's still there. Glad to see the Clarence back at 5 o'clock somewhere bar, outside. Are Curly and Yum still there too? Great review, as always! mabones Posted May 19, 2016 #547 Share Posted May 19, 2016 Gambee, I have a few Michael Goddard prints at home. I met him on the Caribbean Princess in January of 2005 when I was cruising with my daughter. He was on board with his wife & entourage. He was the Resident Artist on that cruise. He was even working on a Picture that was bought for almost $10k (I think). Always enjoy your Reviews. We are going on the Escape in December. j603 Posted May 19, 2016 #548 Share Posted May 19, 2016 Phew!!!!! Made it all the way to page 28 and it took only 3 days of lunch breaks at work and maybe a few extended peeks while my "files were copying"...... Great review so far!!!!

I'm pretty sure that Doug (maybe someone else?) said that the 5/21 sailing (which includes me!) is the last one with Beau. Hopefully someone else can verify that bad news for your though. It's not my fault. :p
Slark Posted May 19, 2016 #550 Share Posted May 19, 2016 Gambee, Sure hope the super service you've been touting holds up. You may have mentioned somewhere in the past 28 pages, but have you had a chance to talk with an NCL officer about how they are creating this new service model and quality?
