baxley Posted May 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2016 I noticed that at the Culinary school onboard....they teach you to make Creme Brulee. I was wondering if they ever serve it in the MDR or only at the specialty restaurants? I told you it was silly....:D
Rare Scrapnana Posted May 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 19, 2016 Yes, they do serve it in the MDR but I must say it was much tastier in the Pinnacle Grill. I found the Creme Brûlée in the MDR varied in quality - sometimes good but sometimes a little too runny.

They do teach it in the classes but not all the time/every class or cruise.

Murdo2012 Posted May 20, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 20, 2016 Yes, they do serve it in the MDR but I must say it was much tastier in the Pinnacle Grill. I found the Creme Brûlée in the MDR varied in quality - sometimes good but sometimes a little too runny. I noticed the difference as well and mentioned it to the dining room manager. He told me that the Creme Brulee in the Pinnacle is made from scratch with eggs and cream.... and the MDR is basically a "custard" made from a pudding mix. Rare chefestelle Posted May 20, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 20, 2016 I knew it! Creme brûlée is one of the very few desserts I eat and I was really disappointed in the one I had in MDR. Told DD I thought it was a pudding flavoured like custard and dolled up with a sugar crust. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

The crème brûlée served in the dining room is totally bland and the texture is not right. It's not worth the calorie intake. The Pinnacle has a much better offering. Delicious, in fact. Krazy Kruizers Posted May 20, 2016 #9 Share Posted May 20, 2016 I tried the crème brulee a couple of times in the dining room -- really bland. The one served at Le Cirque in the Pinnacle is the best tasting one.

SilvertoGold Posted May 20, 2016 #11 Share Posted May 20, 2016 (edited) Answer of the day. Yes, because this is HAL we are talking about HAL. Their Signature of Inconsistency: yes, no, maybe. Not to be negative, but this inconsistency gets old.... Edited May 20, 2016 by SilvertoGold
take us away Posted May 20, 2016 #12 Share Posted May 20, 2016 Just off the Amsterdam in April and the crème brulee in the MDR was good while the Pinnacle was varied flavors, which made it even better. Maybe it is a chef thing as do not think the MDR was a mix, which I do not like.
