Drink Packages cost?

Recommended Posts

Sailing on the Oasis on June 4th. First time sailing on RCCL after 13 cruises on Carnival. Can anyone provide information on the drink packages such as the price, which package you prefer and when do you purchase it? We both like bottled water and she enjoys some wine and I enjoy cocktails, especially around the pool, sitting on the balcony, and at the casino. I appreciate any input.

Here are the prices and descriptions, add 18% for gratuity:

Thanks for the info. It looks like the only difference between Ultimate and Premium is that Premium does not include juices and premium coffee and Premium is $10/day less.

Correct, and one other small difference, bottled sparkling water comes with Ultimate.

That brochure doesn't mention the soda cup or soda as part of the package. Is that still included?

Yes, soda (and the soda cup) are included as part of all the unlimited packages.

Do both of us get a sticker put on our cabin key cards?

Drink packages are for individual use, so only someone who purchases a package will get a sticker.

Oddly enough I haven't heard any reports that the onboard price went up as was reported by Royal Caribbean on their Facebook page a couple weeks ago. It was certainly the same price on our Freedom cruise last week.

It would not surprise me if the price only went up for those who were trying to get the 20% off.

Nope, I have been tracking it since January when I booked October on Oasis. I was waiting to see if the 20% discount would pop up and just last week it did and I bought it. It went from $49 per day to $44 per day not counting the 18% gratuity.

Came to $363 total for the premium package.

Consider yourself lucky...my big 20% discount drops the price from $49 to $47 before gratuity!

Drink prices seem to be all over the place, even for the same ship, same week. I bought the premium package at the advertised 20% off price. With gratuity it came to $388. Another person in my roll call got the same package for $310.

I called C and A and they told me pricing changes. Okay, I get that pricing can change. However, I think they should sell the packages for the same price on a particular ship, on the same voyage. Otherwise people can feel ripped off (or not, according to each individual).

Consistent pricing on the same sailing would eliminate that problem. It seems to be a hot topic on these boards. Lots of threads discussing the same issue.

Bottom line - RC can do whatever it wants. We can like it or take our vacation money elsewhere.

Thanks for the help. I think I know how to handle that.

The proper way to "handle that" is to either buy a package for each person, or have only one person who drinks. Ignoring the moral implications of sharing the package, if you share and are caught they can revoke the package, so you still paid for it but don't get free drinks anymore.

If you weren't referring to trying to share, my apologies.

Ask ten people what they paid for their seats on your next flight and you'll get 10 different prices. Do you really think that all people in the same category cabin on any given cruise paid the identical price? Sorry, it doesn't work that way. No need to feel ripped off, you just have to understand how the market works.

Do both passengers in a cabin have to purchase the drink pkg?

No, however packages are per person so if only one purchases only one gets to use it. The cruise lines gave become very good at spotting sharing and will revoke the package without a refund if caught.

You will enjoy the Premium Package! The only reason you would upgrade to the Ultimate would be if you liked Martini's at the Martini Bar! Enjoy!

Huh? When I called RCI... the lady I spoke with said the premium pkg would cover martini's. Anyone on Allure with premium pkg that didn't cover martini's?? That may make a difference in whether I purchase! I thought I read $13 limit for Allure on threads?

There is no difference in alcoholic drinks included between the Premium and Ultimate packages.
