For food- Don't miss Food Republic! Wonderful small plate dishes for a decent price. You can pick three or four to share, then order more. We didn't discover this until late in the cruise, but then ate lunch there again the next (and last) day.

For food- Don't miss Food Republic! Wonderful small plate dishes for a decent price. You can pick three or four to share, then order more. We didn't discover this until late in the cruise, but then ate lunch there again the next (and last) day.

Thank you. Oh, I want to do the ropes course. I am just waiting for the dr. to give me the ok (back issues :(). Food Republic and Pincho sound amazing. I can't wait to try these venues. Thanks for posting the dailies, I will check them out. :)

Honestly there's so much going on (and often simultaneously) I could go another week and still find things I totally missed the first time. Heck, I didn't even stumble upon the Waterfront until day 6.

 

What kinds of things are you looking for? General age range?

 

Nightclub/R&B type dancing: Sky Bar, by the casino. And oh, hey, look, there's a casino!

 

Piano sing alongs: Howl at the Moon in Headliners, and Beau at the District Brewhouse.

 

There's pretty much always SOMETHING funny or interesting going on in the atrium area.

 

Like fine art? There's an art auction.

 

Teppanyaki is funny and good. I enjoyed it and I don't even care that much for Asian food.

 

If you don't want to do premium dinner, there's usually some sort of live entertainment with dinner in the Manhattan room.

If you enjoy wine, spend some time at the wine bar. We were there every day for a glass or two. We also did the wine and chocolate tasting, which was interesting.

 

There are two main people there and they definitely got to know us by the end of the cruise (actually by about day 2). The one bartender saved all the corks for my friend and she went home with a bag of them. We would often ask for suggestions and be served wines that were not available by the glass (they may have been open because of different classes/tastings). We always sat at the very last table away from the bar -- the one in the corner between the wine coolers and a column. It allowed for outstanding people watching.

 

I second the suggestion to spend time on the Waterfront. We ate out there twice, but spent some time on the last sea day walking around out there and getting some gelato. I know it is one place to pay more attention to on our next cruise.

 

Also, don't waste your first two sea days if you have plans on doing something. Things (restaurants, ropes course, waterslides) tended to be crowded the last sea day with people trying to do everything they hadn't done yet.

 

We really enjoyed the Escape. While I'm looking forward to trying the Getaway next year, I'm excited to sail on the Escape again in 2018.

The Wine Bar is on my list. I am interested in trying some wines I usually shy away from. Thanks for the tip. I know I saw some on the menu I would like to try but where by the bottle only so hopefully I can luck out like you did and get to try some of them. I wil have to check out your table for people watching. Thanks for letting me know about the waterfront to hang out at. I was hoping there would be a quiet place my sister and I could sit and watch a movie on the ipad or read a book. Sounds like the waterfront might be just the place.

 

I will have to be sure to get some of my adventures done the first two days so I don't miss out at the end of the cruise. I keep reading the ropes course has been closed most of the day on friday.

Just off yesterday and the only 'not to be missed' thing I found was Food Republic, and my ear plugs.

dining al fresco on the waterfront

parties in spice H2O

5'oclock somewhere bar for cocktails and sunsets

music with Beau in the District

indian dishes at the buffet ~ lunch

crepes (after dinner at the back of the buffet)

trying new cocktails (UBP)

Do not miss the 90 minutes after sail away time from Tortola. Find a spot outside, preferably on an upper deck with views in all directions. It's breathtaking as the ship sails very close through countless Virgin Islands on all sides.

Food Republic, District Brew House, Mojito Bar- we sailed 4/2 -4/9 and it was the best cruise of our lives! Have a great time!

I was just trying to look this up. What are the slide rules about jewelry? Is it just one slide we'd need to lock wedding rings in safe when plan to ride? IF ride it? Which one do some people get scratched from or stop on? If they are all one in the same, I may skip that one!

 

And the ropes course is no cell, even in cargo pocket (teens won't believe me), and must be completely dry and have shoes on but they don't have to be closed toe, just secure, right? Sneakers preferred but athletic sandals ok but no slides or crocs, right?

Bring binoculars..there's lots to see at sea! We never travel without ours, whether it's a cruise or beach vacation!

You are so right! Get your favorite Boat Drink (Mango Meltdown for me) and enjoy sailing through these beautiful islands. Many years ago we were on a Windjammer cruise through the BVIs.....this brings back wonderful memories:D

We had a good spot on Starboard Waterfront so we didn't check out Port, but I'm guessing Port side was great too. There are so many beautiful little islands through the BVIs.

Great idea LrgPizza! I had not thought of this. I tried thinking back when we sailed out of Tortola last year on the Getaway. I must have been getting ready! Not next year...lol. Getting me some binoculars and gonna have a seat and a drink :cool:

Impossible to pick. We ran back and forth between the 2 sides. You will literally be sailing though a skinny opening in the middle of all the islands, so they are all around.

The Aqua loop has scratched some people when they drop the floor out from under you. Very rare but saw some red backs out there today. As far as jewelry it specifically says no jewelry. My daughter has a small necklace on by mistake but no one said anything on the Aqua racer. The aqua loop has been friending people away with necklaces. Not sure about rings, I will have to check.

 

On the ropes.. I was turned away for closed toes and open heels (Keen Sandals). Also they check your cargo pockets and send you away as well.

On the drop slide there is NO jewelry of ANY kind allowed! Also no glasses or hard hair clips (they checked my pony tail holder to make sure it was just a rubber band). The adults that I saw that got stuck on that slide were either wearing swim shirts or tankini bathing suits. They must create too much drag and slow you down. I loved all of the slides except the yellow one. That one is too slow and you end up getting stuck and pushing yourself down. Nobody in my family got scraped by the slides and we did them a lot throughout the week. On the ropes course you must wear a shirt that covers your shoulders, shorts and shoes without open toes or heels. The other rule is you must be completely dry! (I got turned away once for being every so slightly damp). Sunglasses are fine, but no phones in your pocket. You can use a GoPro with either the chest or head mount.

 

Enjoy your cruise, the slides and ropes course are super fun!
