jrljel Posted June 10, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2016 (edited) I know that this has been asked a million times, however, can we make a 10:20 flight out of Fort Lauderdale? I think I always have in the past and I am in a suite and Diamond Plus so we could be the first off. But I don't remember if we did that last year or not. Thank you! yogimax Posted June 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2016 Much depends on the ship you are on. When we got off Independence it was a nightmare. Of course, in theory, you can make the flight. The question is whether you want to be stressing about it for your entire cruise.
OCruisers Posted June 11, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 11, 2016 To avoid the stress of MUST get off early, something after Noon would work. :)
Finabear Posted June 11, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 11, 2016 The answer to that is a firm "maybe" Many here will tell you they did it or were at the airport early enough to have made it. However, there is also a very good chance you would not.
malprl Posted June 11, 2016 #5 Share Posted June 11, 2016 If you are on Oasis or Allure and carry off your own bags with express departure, you'll be fine the majority of the time. Be one of the first off - go 30 minutes earlier than they tell you. Things happen, but we have done this at least 10 times without a problem. Last March we did an 8:25 a.m. flight. We were at the gate by 7:00 a.m. I always have a Plan B so it doesn't ruin the last couple of days...I don't really get stressed about it. If things like this stress you out, don't even try it. Ashland Posted June 11, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Self disembark...carry your own luggage....your C&A status or your cabin category makes no difference when opting for this.
GUT2407 Posted June 11, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Too early for me. Last thing I want on the last day is rush to disembark and then stress about missing my flight.
Zou Bisou Bisou Posted June 11, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Ah... the age old question about flights out of FLL. We always book a flight @ noon or later to be safe. But could we have made a flight scheduled for 10:20am? Yes, several times and if we had done express departure? Sure, usually. But.....and here is the but. No guarantee. As far as being in a suite or D+, unless you do the express debarkation carrying your own luggage with no help you are not the first off. Also, be aware of the wheelchair lines. Now please folks don't take this the wrong way and attack, I respect people with disabilities. But we cruise OFTEN. Lately, I have noticed long lines of wheel chair folks with big "families" (group/friends/family) who get to depart when they basically want to. Far more wheel chairs than I ever see on the ship. I hate to think people are ordering wheelchairs to jump the lines, but go ahead and call me a skeptic.
negc Posted June 11, 2016 #9 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Just off Allure two weeks ago, had suite/pinnacle luggage tags, walked off with the concierge at 8:15, at airport by 9 for a 10:10 flight. BUT, we had TSA Pre check so no wait at FLL, checked our bags outside Also, we could not locate one piece of luggage, spent about 10 minutes looking for it and finally filled out a Personal Loss Report, so probably would have been to the airport sooner if that hadn't happened. Lucky for us, they found our luggage and mailed it home, so all was good. Having the suite/pinnacle luggage tag also got us to the front of the line at Customs/Immigration, and that saved a lot of time as the regular lines were very long. If I had a choice, I would book a flight after 11:30, but Jet Blue changed our flight to the 10;10 time and we opted to take our chances with the 10:10 flight, so it worked out this time. Rare Lionesss Posted June 11, 2016 #10 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Self disembark...carry your own luggage....your C&A status or your cabin category makes no difference when opting for this. I did not know this. When we were in a CLS on Allure and Oasis we were escorted off by the concierge when two times were offered . But, If not I thought if you had an early flight you could request early departure numbers like 1-7??? Wow, I wonder how they decide who goes thru first? Thanks for the post. Safe travels.
