weather is better than average. all the crew are quite pleasantly surprised,

did run into rain yesterday from noon until around 5.

didn't bother me as i played blackjack for $1.00 a hand in the casino and then had the hour long foot massage.

the best ever. Ask for Noo. She was wonderful.

yes, Alice is on board doing lectures on handwriting analysis and jury selection. her sessions are very well attended. As for me, i left my brain at home and have been more focused on sun, champagne and the spa.

going to make up another hour tonight.

for those of you who were curious the layover in west palm beach is for a corporate charter.

So are you ready for the Halloween party FT?

Interesting that the ship will do a quick charter after your crossing and before our boarding.

Thanks so much for all of your reports! We are truly living vicariously through you!

The itinerary is pretty much up to whoever charters the ship, within certain parameters (fuel consumption, etc.). Freeport doesn't seem like a SD type of place but you never know. I have a feeling we'll have an answer to our question soon.......

Incidentally, the Seabourn Pride is currently in drydock at Freeport.

Sea Dream II is definitely the place to spend Halloween.

All kinds of ghoulish treats and a staff that really enjoys the holiday.

The wonderful spa ladies took pity on my lack of costume and provided me with a wizards hat and a witch\s cape. Broomstick was optional. Dear Christophe was somewhat surprised I didn’t bring my own.

For those of you who have been checking the website, you might have noticed we have been in some rough water. most of the passengers have great sea legs but several of us have commented on waking up at 3 in the morning feeling like you just took a corner on the Thunder Mountain roller coaster at disney world

Then just a few minutes ago the seas suddenly calmed and it looks like another great day.

If risotto with quail is on the menu – it is delicious. As are the fresh made daily sorbets. Last night was lemon mascarpone. Others were tempted by the praline ice cream.

Laura and Richard, I passed on your wishes to Alice. Jim and Lois, the same to Christophe.

Off to breakfast. . . . perhaps another dark chocolate croissant.

Thanks for the update FT:D I look forward, as others I am sure, to your daily updates!

Halloween was quieter than last year's here in NC ... Although we did give out 5 bags worth of candy.

Hope you have good weather the next couple of days!

Enjoying your fun here. Feel sorry for me, I had to survey a boat today in Pensacola in the rain and now its getting cold. When you are on the Bali beds and its getting on in the afternoon and you are feeling sleepy, think of me and order an Espresso martini from Cristophe on my tab. It will crank your tractor and make you ready for the evening. You really make us want to do the transat. Who needs islands?

Jim & Lois.

Looks like you had an incredible day FT! The weather looked perfect ... and oh how I am craving caviar right now:D

What champagne did they pour today?

Also, we had a discussion at one point about the wines served at lunch and dinner ... how have you found them to be this trip? (Can you tell I haven't had my first cocktail of the evening yet:confused: Waiting for DH to get home from work:eek: )

my last posting as my internet card is about gone

You won’t believe the great day we had yesterday. I thought the beach party on jost van dyke was a highlight but the beach party we had poolside yesterday was the best ever.

Waiters, the wonderful Danny and Eric, were spraying champagne and doing cannonballs in the pool. Martin, with a little assistance, did a flip into the pool in his dress uniform without spilling a drop in a full bottle.

We had fresh oysters from Holland. Large but mild and of course the ever present caviar.

Its all coming to an end and back to the real world tomorrow.

tonight another tasting menu and i will do an update when i get home.

FT,

Thanks again for the wonderful updates. You'll be a tough act to follow. Don't you agree, DJ? It sounds as if you've had a wonderful crossing. I'm just sorry not to have joined you. Maybe next time. Good luck at the Port in PB tomorrow morning and have a safe trip home.

I've now been forced to confront the real world. Clearing security at the Palm Beach airport will do that to you.

First to the unanswered questions --the wine selection at lunch and dinner seemed acceptable to most (I stuck with the champagne through out the trip). A couple of times my dining companions did not like the selection and an alternate was recommended (at no cost).

Champagne stayed the same for the second week. Germain, the 2nd line of Pommeroy, was the featured Champagne and we did drink a lot of it. I wasn't the only person who stayed with Champagne all week.(Christophe and Martin were threatened with extreme bodily harm if we ran out before landing as a result of the antics at the pool party). Luckily, their calculations were accurate.

Last night, another great tasting dinner. Especially like the Green Apple Sorbet with Calvados, the Seabass, and the Beef Wellington.

The Captain's closing party was a great summation. I especially liked the introduction of crew members, many who work tirelessly behind the scenes making sure we have hot water . . .

one of my fellow passengers put it best last night when he said stepping on to solid ground today at West Palm Beach was like having life support disconnected. I can only agree.

I have a lot of other notes that I am going to post later in a more coherent review (or at least hopefully it will be coherent - absent my never empty glass of champagne) but this was the trip of a lifetime, one I can't wait to repeat . . . waiting until April for our next fix.

I finally got to see the Sea Dream II crossing Web site, as great as it is - it only gives you a taste of the trip. Go for the crossing and experience the whole meal!!!.

Hi FT

thanks for the day by day review even though I've just read the whole thread in one sitting....yes the email is slow..likewise in the Med this summer...but better than nothing...wasn't sure if a crossing was for me 'cause I hate rough seas but yours sounds fabulous...so I could be tempted...

at least you didn't have pirates like the Seabourn Spirit off Somalia... according to the BBC the ship was attacked with rocket launchers and guns but the pirates were unable to board as the crew scared them away by making loud bang noises over the tanoy or something...and there was me thinking all pirates lived in the Caribbean...

thanks again FT

Thanks to all for the feedback. It was great fun sharing the experience with all the group.:)

I enjoyed the cruise so much that I've already booked the crossing next fall on Sea Dream II. While the I cruise is longer, Captain Tysse and his crew will be on II and the experience can not be replicated elsewhere.
