Venice port to hotel transportation

Alilaguna Blue Line to San Zaccaria or San Marco (whichever is closer to your hotel).

Or people mover to Piazzale Roma and the public water bus -- line 1, 2, 4.1 or 5.1.

If you're going to buy a water bus pass anyway, the second option saves you a little bit of money. If you're not and just want to get to your hotel, Alilaguna is the way to go.

When your luggage dictates your transfer options, you've obviously overpacked. There are laundry facilities on the ship and in Venice. No need to bring your entire wardrobe.

A water taxi might be your only option but does your hotel have a dock ? or is there one closeby?

Even if you take the alilaguna, you're still going to have to drag your luggage from the stop to the hotel.

Perhaps the easiest option is to leave your luggage at the LEFT LUGGAGE facility at Piazzale Roma; just take an overnight bag to the hotel. With only an overnight bag you might be able to walk to your hotel!

You can take a cab from the pier to the luggage facility, or, if you can manage it, take the People Mover from the pier to P Roma for under 2 e. Left luggage is next to the monorail exit.

If you are on lyrics going to be in Venice for a few days pack what you need for your stay in one suitcase take the people mover from the ship and check your other luggage in at the transport terminal then gate the water bus to your hotel.

Any ideas about the best way (other than a water taxi $$$$$$$$$$) to get from the cruise terminal to our hotel that is near the Bridge of Sighs? We will likely have more luggage than we need.

Thank you!

What are your cruise dates and arrival dat in Venice?

If that's secure, then I really like that option. We're only going to be in Venice for one extra night after we disembark, and it seems like a shame to cart our "main" suitcases around Venice if it isn't necessary. We'll be returning to Piazzale Roma the afternoon after we disembark to meet our transportation to Ljubljana.

Luggage storage at Piazzale Roma is 8 euro per bag per 24 hour period, so it can really add up. Just something to take into account.

We just got back from a three week trip and I have trouble convincing Mrs. Regguy to pack light. We had three checked size bags of 50 lbs. and a smaller over shoulder bag. I was stressed about Venice, but we did fine. We took the Vaporetto from Ferrovia to the San Marco area and the Alilaguna to our cruise, and while it was no fun and cumbersome at times, it really wasn't that bad.

The hotel says the water taxi would be at least 80 euros.

We'll be in Venice for four nights, so will need to keep our bags with us.

I hate doing laundry on the ship, especially with no sea days and every port with a full day's excursion.

If you have excessive luggage, you're going to pay for it one way or another. Choose your poison .... a water taxi or luggage storage fees.

BTW, will you need another water taxi at the end of your visit? If so, it will be cheaper to store a couple of bags at Piazzale Roma and avoid the water taxi.

Our last visit in Venice was part of a month long trip, starting with a cruise. Each of us had a 24" wheeled case and a shoulder tote. For our 3 days in Venice, we stored the large case and threw what we needed in the tote ... underwear, a few tops, a few capris, a pr of slacks, pj's, sweater, cosmetic bag.

I usually use the laundromat on a rainy day or at a meal time. Throw it in the machine and have a meal at a nearby café for an hour.

Post to your roll call - perhaps you'll find another couple who are spending time in Venice post cruise and will gladly share the water taxi fare with you. The taxis can easily hold 6 and I don't think the surcharge starts until you exceed 6 pax. Cost looks to be 85E on the cooperative's web site.

There's plenty of room for luggage on the Alilaguna. We just did it. If you can manage the luggage well enough to get it to a water taxi and from a water taxi to your hotel (unless it has a private dock) you should be able to get it on the Alilaguna. They are big boats.
