Rare Cruise Junky Posted July 25, 2016 #26 Share Posted July 25, 2016 We were able to book in Canadian. It was a really good exchange rate. New for 2017 I believe.
Molliem Posted August 9, 2016 #27 Share Posted August 9, 2016 We are Canadian. Our cruise was booked in US dollars and we were provided Canadian Discount on cost of cruise which seems to be 15%. We pay in US DOLLARS. We use a credit card which converts automatically to Can $ when processed. And there are NO bank fees or mark up on exchange rate. They provide the figures on your statement which is payable in Can $. Some credit cards have No annual fees and NO foreign exchange bank fees and some also provide cash back on your statement. We have used our card all over the world and check each item on return. No surprises. Comments from Retired Canadian banker. Elwin Maybe when you pay 25-30 cents on each dollar they will to keep your business :D Or better still come to Canada for your next vacation & save $$ ;)

Elwin We had the same deal got a discount but paid in USD but that is different than what Marian is talking about Yes I have 2 of those cards ..one is USD card & one is no FTF that we use outside of Canada other than USA
Tansy Mews Posted August 9, 2016 #29 Share Posted August 9, 2016 Well that sounds like a good exchange rate thenI can buy 1 USD @ $1.315 at the bank as long as your CC has no FT fee it should work out The main point is the comparison with the exchange rate and the rate Oceania is giving. At this point, it looks enticing. We got the Canadian discount for our upcoming trip and that certainly helps given the current exchange rate. Dunner Posted August 12, 2016 #30 Share Posted August 12, 2016 You mentioned you paid with your Canadian Credit card, but did you have to pay an additional 25 cents on the dollar? What is the year of your cruise?
tropicalkerry2002 Posted August 12, 2016 Author #31 Share Posted August 12, 2016 My cruise is in 2018. The TA told me the price in Canadian dollars, and I have heard they adjust the exchange rate every so often, but it is much better than what you'll get at the bank. Dunner Posted August 16, 2016 #32 Share Posted August 16, 2016 We have an American and Canadian credit card, so maybe I will check what the exchange will be if we use our Canadian card--it might be better
