In My Next Life I will at Some Point Work on a Cruise Ship...You?

Recommended Posts

That job is called "Travel Agent" and while it's not super-lucrative anymore, it's also probably not all the difficult to get into.

I don't usually hear about Travel Agents actually planning excursions for their clients. That's what I thought was a little different and would be more on an hourly basis for the research, planning and booking rather than via commission - thus the Travel Planner "title".

Of course I'm not all that well traveled, but if something like this could get me on more cruises, experiencing more things, and I could get paid to do it - I'd be all over it!

You are describing what a good travel agent does. I've used this service several times, and the agents are worth every penny. I don't use an agent if I'm just flying to Miami and getting on a cruise ship - I can do that myself. The more complicated land trips combined with a cruise with a private tour guide and air travel that crosses the date line... Oh, yeah, I totally pay a travel agent to help make sure everything coordinates!

You can get a four year 'contract' from the Navy and [as the saying goes] 'see the world'. Actually the working hours serving on a Navy ship will be better than the working hours you'll need to put in as an employee of a cruise ship. Almost forgot, the pay in the Navy will be better too.

If I were able to choose a 'rerun' it would not include being staff on a cruise ship regardless of how much as I enjoy being at sea.

True! But, according to my son (who did a 10-month deployment on the Nimitz) -- the food onboard leaves MUCH to be desired!:D
