Soda Package

We are taking our first cruise this fall. Sorry for the basic question, but, with the basic soda package:

- can we get bottles or cans of soda to take to the room?

- does the room have a refrigerator with soda in it?

- can we order a six pack of soda from room service?

The basic soda package is only drinks from soda guns and not cans.

No drinks packages include room service drinks.

A classic non alcoholic package does include cans and you can ask for them unopened to take back to the cabin, but this doesn't apply to the basic soda only package.

Yes you can

- does the room have a refrigerator with soda in it?

There is a mini-fridge, but the sodas and other drinks you find there are not part of your package and you will pay for them if you drink them

- can we order a six pack of soda from room service?

Room service is not part of the package.

- you can take Sodas bought at the bar back to the room. I don't know if they

are already opened at the bar for you though

- There is a minibar in the room, but the drinks in it are not free even if you have a soda package. However, you can ask your Room Steward to empty the minibar when you arrive and then use it to store your own drinks

- Any drinks you order on room service are not free, even if you have asoda package.

BUT..... you can bring as much soda on board as you want. I've heard of people checking in cases of soda at embarkation that are delivered to their room with the luggage.

Thank you for all the information. So, the plan will be to put a couple of 12 packs of coke in our luggage and have the steward empty the mini bar.

I just reread the Soda package:

Soda Package

Our Soda Package features both fountain and canned soda for more variety and convenience – now available in all bars. In addition, the selection includes popular new flavors such as Coke Zero, Barq's Root Beer, Sprite Zero, and Caffeine-Free Diet Coke.

I guess this isn't correct. (hopefully)

This is directly from Celebrity's website;

Soda Package

Enjoy unlimited sodas during the duration of your cruise. Simply present your SeaPass® Card at any bar, lounge, or restaurant to receive your canned or fountain soda of choice. *Starting from: 9.00 USD Per NIGHT

DebbieMacG was not correct with her post. As with the soda package you can get cans of soda as well as fountain.

Apologies they must have changed it recently to include cans, last time I looked to buy it was the soda guns only and since I can't drink ships water I didn't buy it, so it's a good change 😀

Two years ago I got cans on the package. Now that the price is so high I'll buy one or two cans per day and save quite a bit.

When we arrive we ask our cabin steward to empty our refrigerator. We will pick up (unopened) cans of soda and take them back to our cabin. You can only get one can at a time, per seapass card, but you can walk past several bars and pick up a can at each one. We stock up our refrigerator this way, so we always have what we want in our cabin.

Seems to be some discrepancy on if you can get cans or not..

I know we did and they were happy to leave them unopened if I asked.

I did exactly what you are suggesting, took one back to the cabin every time we headed back, popped it in the fridge for during the night.

We have always bought soda package since we started cruising with Celebrity in 2009. First 1-2 years they gave you a nice souvenir thermos cup with the soda package which could be filled from the fountain machines. The last several years no more souvenir cup and we are practically always given cans.

We've only been on 2 different Celebrity ships, but as far as I could tell, they didn't even have fountain sodas, just cans. We had the soda package on our first cruise, and absolutely could pick up a couple of cans of soda every time we passed a bar.

I would consider the Classic or Premium NA package if I were purchasing one, because I did get a bit tired of the soda choices. The Classic NA package adds bottled water (not fancy water), hot coffee/tea at the coffee bar, and Arizona iced tea. The Premium adds in some other options at the coffee bar (frappucino type drinks), frozen virgin cocktails, smoothies in the Aqua spa, famcy water, and a few other items.

We do this as well - just ask for a can at whatever bar you're passing by and then take it back and put it in your emptied mini bar.

I like to order room service in the afternoon (we are late diners) and it's nice to be able to enjoy a cold soda without running out for it.

We do the same with bottles of water so that my parents have water in the cabin to take their pills with.

OK, so the plan is to get cans of soda to take back to the room. I do this by going into a bar and asking the bartender for some cans?

How many can I ask for?

Where are all these bars? ( going to be on Summit)

You can ask for one per card. Meaning, if you and your traveling companions all have the package, you can hand the bartender four cards and say, "Can I get four cans of Diet Coke."

The bars are everywhere. There is one in the Oceanview Cafe (buffet), a bar outside the Oceanview all the way to the stern, a bar in the Revelations Lounge on the top deck, a bar near the pool and you can also pick up drinks at the pool grill at the other end of the pool. You can get a soft drink in the Aqua Spa cafe in the solarium. You can get soft drinks at the Cafe al Bacio, in Cellar Masters, in the Rendez-Vous lounge, in the casino, and I'm sure I've missed a few. Oh, also in the main theater during the evening shows.

You can't swing a stick without hitting a spot where you can grab a can of soda.

OK, I'll just be a "bag man", stopping at two or three bars and getting two cans each. A bit tacky, but what alternatives do I have?

Does everyone in the stateroom have to buy the soda package or can just 1 person get it? I drink a lot of soda but my husband doesn't drink any. On NCL they would not let me buy the soda package if my husband didn't. Will I run into the same problem on X?
