CRUZMEME Posted August 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 4, 2016 Starting my packing......Tell me about the hairdryer.....Is it really good, and strong??? I really don't want pack my own, but I have really thick hair and my hairdryer gets the job done pretty quickly. Will the one in our cabin do the job??? We are in a mid-ship balcony on deck 10. spidybabe Posted August 4, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 4, 2016 (edited) You can leave yours at home,. The ship's one is good. It's located outside the bathroom by the vanity. BEACHBARB Posted August 4, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 4, 2016 I brought my own and the first night I used it - I kind of blew a fuse or something and when I called for help had to wait about 15-20 minutes for them to reset it. I was told to NOT use my own and it's stated in notes on the vanity area. Their hairdryer was excellent.

I was told to NOT use my own and it's stated in notes on the vanity area. Their hairdryer was excellent. Totally had the same experience and agree. I'm a freak about not wanting to use lousy hairdryers and I did well with the one provided in my cabin. It's a real one, not a cheap toy mounted to the wall like many cruise cabins have. Rare mking8288 Posted August 4, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 4, 2016 The ones on the BA are powerful on 220 volts, rated 1500 to 1600W - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/64025118/2015%20NCL%20BA/IMG20150322_2055%20%281024x768%29.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/64025118/2015%20NCL%20BA/IMG20150322_2057%20%281024x768%29.jpg

lauren0309 Posted August 4, 2016 #11 Share Posted August 4, 2016 Do you need to hold the on button while drying your hair or does it stay on by itself?

carol54 Posted August 7, 2016 #14 Share Posted August 7, 2016 I blew out a very expensive dryer once. Never bring my own anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
SuiteRose Posted August 7, 2016 #15 Share Posted August 7, 2016 I, too, have long, thick hair...I bring my own dryer. The ship's are NOT good, IMO! I guess you aren't reading about the blow dryers and blowing a circuit.. if it says not to plug one in, why would you disobey? I have long hair and have never had a problem on the Breakaway getting it dry.
NCteacherlovescruising Posted August 7, 2016 #16 Share Posted August 7, 2016 I've never been on the breakaway, but was recently on the Getaway. Does it have the same notice? If so, I didn't see it. I always bring my hairdryer regardless of where I'm going. I didn't realize it could cause a problem.
Lopsdb Posted August 8, 2016 #17 Share Posted August 8, 2016 Sailed Breakaway in Feb. My hair was shoulder length and the dryer was fine. I never take my own dryer on a cruise. As ling as you towel dry your hair properly, the dryer will suffice. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
CRUZMEME Posted August 14, 2016 Author #18 Share Posted August 14, 2016 Just got back today......we had an amazing time! The blowdryer in the room worked great! I ended up packing my own, and never used it!!!! IF you are like me an have thicker hair, do not worry about the dryer in the room! I will not bother to pack my own next time! newmexicoNita Posted March 27, 2017 #20 Share Posted March 27, 2017 I have not sailed the Breakaway, am going to this coming Sunday, but the other newer ships seem to have very good dryers and it is one less thing to pack, plus I don't have to worry about not following the policies. I will add, I do not have thick hair; even if I did I would still use the ships dryer. :)
