Concierge Hotel & Air Deviation Problems

Anyone out there know how much it would cost for transportation from airport to HiltonMolino Stuckey and from hotel to cruise ship?

Jean

You have two choices: Alilaguna or a water taxi. Alilaguna is cheap, but the trip from the airport to the Hilton takes 90 minutes and does not go up the Grand Canal so isn't super-scenic. A water taxi from the airport to the Hilton costs 100 Euros but is fast and very scenic (some Grand Canal and also quaint Rios). From the Hotel to the cruise ship Alilaguna is fast (one stop) and cheap, as long as you don't have too much luggage. Water taxi for that leg costs 50 Euros, which seems very pricey for such a short trip [for 2 people]. If you want a water taxi to be ready for you, you can book ahead at http://www.motoscafivenezia.it/eng/ -- they were very reliable and the driver accepted the voucher and did not expect a tip.

Greetings from South Beach, Everyone. Our international airport is MIA, not most people's favorite. It is similar to Frankfurt, in that it is under eternal something that is supposed to be renovation. The only plus factor for us is that American Airlines has non-stops to most of our destinations and a pretty decent business class. Our TA requested a deviation that will get us back to Miami by 4:30pm from Barcelona, and we got it. In accord with the best advice regarding TAs, ours knows how to deal with Regent and other luxury venues. We are very happy with her.

It's all a bit confusing as to what is included and what is not. In our case, we are booked into an Explorer suite for a cruise that departs from Venice. Although we did book the pre-cruise hotel night through Regent, we also paid the upcharge to deviate our flights. In any event, on my booking confirmation it states that only transfers to and from airport to ship are included if you are arriving/departing on embarkation day. Does that mean that because we are arriving a day early into Venice, even though the hotel is booked through Regent, we have to pay for our own airport to hotel and hotel to ship transfers? (as an aside, for the Explorer suite the description online reads "free transfers"). Also, for Venice arrivals are the included transfers by boat or otherwise? Sorry if this question has already been asked and answered.....may follow up directly with Regent tomorrow for clarification.

For jeanrtco:

It was 7.5 Euro (Aug 2/3 2016) for the Water Bus to/from the cruise ship/Stuckey (nice hotel, was there a few years ago)/St. Marks square one way. 15 Euro round trip. If you don't have a chip/pin card and use one of the machines to buy a ticket make up a PIN - worked for me.

thanks for all the information! I think that I will wait till sept, when airfare are out there to compare the INCLUDED regents price to the base cruise fare price. Then I will have a better idea. Yes, I do have tons of miles to use on hotel, and may be able to use miles to do the upgrade from premium economy to business, thus being less expensive. As far as transfers, need to look that up as well.

You can arrange for the hotel's service to pick you up at the airport. They will meet you in the arrivals terminal, shuttle you to the water taxi which takes you directly to the Hilton where the bellman will be waiting for you, take your luggage and escort you inside to the check in desk. I highly recommend this service for convenience and simplicity. We used it two years ago and it cost around $100. Just email the concierge to make the arrangements.

Following my posts last week I received a call from a manager at Regent. He was very nice and explained that when the air deviation went through my TA unbundled the pre cruise hotel package from the suite and received a $400 discount on the reservation.

Regent contacted my TA on my behalf. I learned yesterday that Regent discounted the hotel room by half and the TA picked up that 50% portion so I am receiving the promised hotel and transportation package as originally promised.

There was another communication error regarding transportation to port. That is always included if you have a Regent hotel stay the night prior to your cruise. What isn't included, when you are getting in early, is transportation from the airport to wherever you're going on your own vacation. We never expected this.

I have to say once Regent got involved everything was handled professionally and I'm more than happy with the outcome. I hope to meet many of you in November and hope that you will bless with me with a referral to a TA better experienced in this sort of travel.

Thanks to everyone who replied and offered assistance. This is a great community.

Glad you got everything resolved. Always a good feeling when things come together.

As an aside, it would be nice if the Mods could maybe edit the title of this thread to show that it wasn't really a Regent issue after all...

Agree with Bill. The subject is now misleading (and a good reason not to lead a thread with a negative topic - JMHO). Leading with a question sometimes works out better (for instance "why am I losing both hotel and transportation when I deviate air?")

Thankfully I was able to get the moderator to edit the title. I do agree with Jackie and Bill that one shouldn't post while angry and I did. However, I really was hoping Regent would reach out and get things fixed. I crafted the original title with that goal in mind.

Hope some of my fellow travelers on the November TA will be generous enough to give us a referral to a Regent specialist. Thanks again to everyone and Regent for your help. Look forward to meeting Jackie and others in November.
