HARMONY OF SEAS ... which DECK is BEST ???

Recommended Posts

I typically sail Carnival but Thinking of booking on Harmony of Seas ... I'm wondering which deck might be best. I want a balcony ... but want to save a little money and face IN as opposed to one with an ocean view.

My thoughts are that the BOARDWALK view is better than a Central Park view (plus I like the perks that come with the room better than Central Park View)

1. Why do they charge more for Deck 8 and sometimes deck 10? Are those "better" decks?

2. What is the difference between B1 and B2 category?

3. which deck do YOU think is best (and why) for a Boardwalk view with a balcony?

4. Am I missing anything by choosing Boardwalk View as opposed to Central Park view?

Thank you everyone for your opinions!

There is no price difference from Deck to Deck. The only price difference for a Boardwalk Balcony is between a B1 and a B2, and those are on all decks. (8-14)

To me, there is no major advantage or disadvantage to any of those BW balconies.

I have seen a price difference .... But now that you mention it, it might be because only B1 or B2 was available on that deck?

And it seemed to me that the more expensive rooms were more Aft and I thought maybe they were more, and a lower deck was better cause you get a view of the aqua show from your balcony????

As someone mentioned, the higher you are, the less noisy it could be in your cabin. We are sailing on the upcoming Harmony of the Seas in November and we chose a boardwalk balcony on Deck 11.

My reasoning for this is because it's just a few decks up to the pool and Windjammer areas, but it wasn't directly below them (reports of noise in cabins directly below these decks on Oasis class ships). I also wanted to be up to get some view of the ocean at the back of the ship.

I personally feel that Boardwalk balcony is going to be better than the Central Park balcony, unless you just want the serenity and not all the people watching that you would get in the boardwalk.

I doubt there´s any quiet balcony on the Boardwalk. I´ve been on deck 12 on the Allure (more or less directly underneath the landing area of the Zip Line) and I´ve been on deck 8 above the Arcade on the Harmony recently. The balcony doors close very well and are sound proof. But as soon as you open up the door there´s a lot of noise on the Boardwalk. Not a cabin I would pay for.

Central Park is much less noisy. But Boardwalk provides the better view (the farer to the aft you are the better you can see the Aqua Theater shows) as some cabins do have a slight ocean view. Advantage compared to the Ocean View Balconies: Boardwalk has high Bistro tables, Ocean View has the small tables (not really suitable for a breakfast on the balcony).

You can see lots of photos plus a video here from the deck 8 Boardwalk balcony cabin.

I´ve just returned on Sunday from the Harmony having had an Ocean View on deck 9 close to the aft staircase. That´s my favorite location.

I would avoid deck 14 as there could be overhead noise coming from the sports deck.

Hello, I'm a newbie on this board! :) I will be sailing on Harmony in a few weeks time and I noticed this comment as my cabin is on Deck 14, an Ocean View Balcony 14284, do you think it will be noisy, particularly after 11pm?

I don´t think it´s noisy on deck 14 after 11 pm. But it might be noisy starting by 4 or 5 am ;)! That´s when they start to hose the pool deck and put the deck chairs back.

I once had a cabin on deck 14 on the Oasis and never will do this again.

Eek. I think we're under the teen disco on the Allure. But I can't imagine it would be open too late?

From being in a Boardwalk balcony which I really liked our view was quite obstructed by the Ultimate Abyss. Something to consider

What was your cabin#? We are booked in cabin 12325. Booked before I realized the Abyss might be a problem.

I've been in several of them. I would go with deck 11 as far aft as possible for the view of the ocean and the shows. Deck 11 is high enough up to see the water and reduce some noise from below but not too close to the sports deck so you avoid that noise. Just know it is a long walk to the elevator if you are far aft. We don't mind this at all but some would.

I booked my Harmony of the Seas cabin based on elevators rather than noise. About 4 years ago I sailed on the Allure of the Seas on one of the higher decks (13 or 14) and waiting for the elevators was always a time-consuming hassle. They were always crowded and people would get on and go in whatever direction it was going just to grab a spot so it was always crowded. This time I elected to book on deck 7 (or 8?) to avoid that problem. I have read some threads that there are no elevator problems lately so perhaps I need not have worried. We'll see.

We are on Harmony July 2017 and have room 9307 on the Boardwalk balcony. Does anyone know if we will be able to see the aqua show or is the abyss in the way? Also does anyone have pictures of this room or view from the balcony. We are so excited because this is our first RCI cruise!! Thank you

I heard that they allow smoking in the casino and that the smoke leaks into the fitness center and cabins on the same deck. Is this true?

Smoking is allowed in the casino. But first the casino is on deck 4 and the fitness center on deck 6. Second the casino is more midships and the fitness center is forward in the bow. Never experienced any smoke in the fitness center on neither of the three Oasis class ships (and I´ve just returned from Harmony). I usually use the fitness center daily and I´m pretty sensible to smoke. The only thing I can imagine is that someone did smoke on the jogging track on deck 5 (there´s a staircase in the fitness center leading down to the jogging track). But the smoking would have been illegal.

This pic is roughly the view from 9707. 9307 is the opposite side - same blocked view.

So, to me it looks like it might be helpful to be at least 2 cabins more toward the theater; perhaps at least 9715 or more? (or, is that just an optical illusion that the Abyss appears to be right in front of 9709 and 9711)? I'm trying to figure out if deck 8 or deck 11 is a better choice for seeing the theatre.... (there is nothing available that is closer to the theater than the 11-319 or 8-719.) Any suggestion/advise?

Thank you!

We were in Boardwalk balcony 11715 on Oasis and 10719 on Allure. We loved the Boardwalk balconies. If we sail on those 2 ships again, I'd like to get closer to the back for a better ocean view. Thought deck 10 & 11 were great. We loved coming into ports and seeing land from the back of the ship. I will say, though, even with the door shut, we could hear the late night movie in the aqua theatre until after 11:30 or so. No problem for us but I could see early to bed people might not like it. We are cruising on Harmony in Oct. and we chose an ocean view balcony this time. I don't love the idea of the Abyss obstructing the view that we were previously used to.

Thank you for posting. I'm not the one that asked but we're also staying in 307. Pictures posted are often of the ones right by the aqua theatre and not many from where you posted. So now I have an idea how far back. We actually booked further back on purpose hoping its a bit quieter at night time when we're ready for bed.

Just booked our kids into 9309 on the Harmony - view looks like a perfect combo of some ocean and boardwalk. I'd rather be further back so that the slides aren't right in your view, even if that means not being able to see the Aquatheater.

Does anyone know if the balconies at the end of the hall that overlook the theater are still there on the Harmony, or did those go away with the new suites?
