Allure - Grand Suite Beds

Hello all,

 

This is our first family cruise on Royal and we booked a Grand Suite for our family of 4. My kids are 12 and 15 and I am wondering how big is the sofa bed? Does it pull out or they just make the sofa into a bed and I will have to request a roll-away?

The sofa bed does pull out, but it's still not a very large bed.

And you only get 1 bathroom. Perhaps look into a CLS with 2 bathrooms and the same sized pull out couch. Just a thought with teen aged kids ;)

Thanks. We should be fine for this one last trip. I agree that they are getting so big that we will have to start looking at two rooms for every trip we take from now on. :)

Have you tried pricing out the kids in their own room. With what they are charging for 3rd and 4th guests it may be right around the same price to get them a cabin of their own.

Based on experience, the roll away bed on the Allure is terrible. It feels like you are sleeping on the springs. If you get a roll away bed ask for an egg crate. It makes the bed bearable.

The bed pulls out of the sofa...they will be fine.

Let me relay what happened to us. We booked a GS on Allure for 3, me, wife, and adult daughter for the end of Oct. I had been checking the suites on our cruise almost every day just to see if something new popped up or the price changed. About 2 weeks ago, so at about 60 days from departure, a Royal Family Suite appeared, I suppose RC released it for less than 4 or 5 people. It was actually about $600 less than our GS. I called my TA and she called RC to see what the cost would be for us to switch to the RFS. RC would not give me the lower price since the sale was for new bookings only, but they would let me have it for no extra cost. I jumped on it cause the 2BRs and 2 baths are perfect for us.

 

You should be fine in the GS, but my advice would be to keep checking to see what is available on your cruise. You may get lucky like us.

The pull out sofa is closer to full size than queen size.
