Bidding for Haven/Upgrades

I also wonder if the decision of who wins the bid is based on the timing of the cruise (High travel or slow season). The amount of money spent on current room and of course availability. It seems a lot of the bids that were accepted in the poor/fair range were more so slower times of the year where not as many people traveled. I am just filtering through the threads and it is all over the place on how the bids are accepted.

I never even knew about an upsell before this biding option came about.

Has anyone heard received anything for this Saturday 4/8 on the escape. I miss the days of calling the upsell number. This morning after holing steady at 5 courtyard penthouses it has dropped to 1. We will have a great time either way but the waiting is hard.

I just got upgraded to a Haven Spa suite for this week's 4/10 Breakaway sailing.

I am actually kind of shocked because my bid was low and this is the spring break cruise.. so figured I had no chance. I was determined not to get caught up and overbid, so was not really planning on it. Gotta get busy now and do some research on the Haven!

I think all those are factors. I can guarantee that the decision of who wins the bid is based on one criteria alone: maximizing revenue on each sailing.

Every sailing is going to be different. Every cabin/category is going to be different. If 10 Haven suites are available, the winners are going to be the 10 bids that get NCL the most dollars.

I don't think they do, but for max revenue should take into account spending on casino, booze, excursions, shops, etc. These people should be enticed to do more cruises if they get deals on upgrades.

We are booked in a mini suite for the 40 day cruise Sydney to Tokyo next February on Jewel. It is actually 3 separate cruises but booked as 1 cruise not B2B2B. Wondering if we will be given a chance to bid for Haven. Of course for that long it might be cost prohibitive to even bid. We are going with 4 people in 2 cabins. If 1 cabin gets the upgrade can you bring guest to the Haven only Pool and restaurants?

I saw that too, but the 4/9 cruise is an entirely different story because of spring break. I think the cheapest haven I saw for that cruise was around $3200

I booked a guarantee cabin for the May 28th EPIC cruise out of Barcelona. Received my room already 10060. Pretty happy with that. If I try and bid for a room upgrade, is it possible I will go to a lower floor? First time on NCL. My reviews of EPIC also state the Mini-Suite is not that much better. Any suggestions, tips are appreciated.

I saw that, too. It'd be nice if there was a drop like that on our sailing, then I'd cancel my bidding and upgrade in a heartbeat!

Waiting for the 4/8 upgrades as well and also noticed only one Haven Courtyard suite left.

Saw that also on the site

So if we don't win any bids

They send an email to say us better luck next time ?

Because the limit claim for winning and be advise is written 2 days prior boarding

Yes, they have up to 48 hours before to notify you. Other people on the boards have mentioned seeing their credit cards charged before receiving the email that their upgrade bid was accepted. I just checked my CC and no charges so I don't think our offer was excepted. We are happy with our cabin regardless but I hate getting my hopes up like this. Kind of wish I didn't receive the offer to begin with.

Fiance and I are going on the breakaway on 4-9-17 Spring break in New York the ship when i checked last was sold out. I received my email on Monday that I got my upgrade and I was on Fair but barely past poor. Even when I called NCL they said i had no shot.. I was almost certain I was not going to get it.. Still i checked email everyday and I was shocked when i opened the email yesterday!

I am on April 8th on the Escape. I have placed multiple bids but never heard back yet. It shows all the cabins being sold out now.

BTW, I called Norwegian to ask how it works if you win a Haven cabin if you get all those extra perks. They said only the perks you original booked with on the current cabin. Therefore, you will NOT get unlimited internet, the drink package, the port credit and the other perks that are included with the Haven when you directly book a Haven cabin. You just get access to all the Haven areas and restaurants.
