PREPARING TO LEAVE

As I've done on several prior cruises, I'll be blogging daily about our cruise which begins tomorrow. I'll be posting here periodically about this 52 day cruise, but the daily detail will be found in my blog which is linked below.

We are sailing via the Maasdam from Seattle to and around Australia from Monday, 9/26/16 to Monday 11/28/16. In summary the trip will take us from Seattle to Vancouver, Hawaii, Fiji, Samoa, New Caledonia, and docking in Sydney on 10/20. We then will circumnavigate Australia counter clockwise for 30 days and then spend 10 days in the Sydney and Melbourne areas.

Below is a link to my SpotWalla account which will track our upcoming trip:

http://*******.com/Timmer2016DownUnder (There won’t be a tracking point for every day but you’ll get an idea of where we are and have been).

If you want to know exactly where the Maasdam is at any point in time, go to: http://www.sea-scanner.com/schiffsposition.php?schiff=maasdam or http://www.cruisemapper.com/ms-Maasdam-location?imo=8919257 There’s also information about the ship at those links. In summary, it’s the 3rd oldest ship in the fleet and carries around 1,300 passengers and around 800 crew.

My personal blog is at: https://timmer2016downunder.blogspot.com It will have a daily entry although those entries will not necessarily be posted daily due to lack of internet access. It'll have the most detail about daily activities.

If you want a light-hearted account of the trip, we have some stow-aways, and their blog is at: https://nigandnogblog.wordpress.com. They have already posted an entry and you can find some history there about these cute little gnomes.

Feel free to post any questions in this thread. Please be aware that on sea days, we’ll generally not have internet access so a response might be delayed up to 5 days. Feel free to share these links with family or friends, but please don’t further post them publicly.

We're really looking forward to our departure. . .

We're in Vancouver today. It's such a short stay, we're just going to the nearby museum.

Breakfast was quick and easy. I should mention that last night's comedienne was really funny. Anyone with a first name Kermet starts with a head start.

Enjoying the view from the Vancouver Lookout. The Maasdam is barely visible beyond Canada Place. The Norwegian Jewel is in the foreground.
