Celebrity Silhouette April 2017

Hello CC people,

This is my first post here after being a long time lurker, and the last few weeks a hard core lurker.

I just booked my very first cruise ever. :) After consulting different cruise lines, we decided Celebrity has currently the best offer, and their ships look beautiful. I am going there with my partner, and we are both very exited!

Since we are on a budget, as this is jut an "extra" vacation, we were very happy to see that Celebrity now offers a complimentary classic drink package. When I say complimentary, I know that the package is factored into the price, however, the price is very good for what we are getting.

So we are going on a 7 night Easter Caribbean cruise in April 2017. We chose a verandah stateroom with obstructed views (cat. 2C), as these were much cheaper than unobstructed staterooms - in fact they were just a couple of Euros more than regular ocean view state rooms.

Cruise Critic have been a great source of information, and I have used hours searching this very forum for information, but I still have some questions:

We chose stateroom 6160 - is this a good location, stateroom? We want a very quiet stateroom where we are not disturbed by nightlife, elevators or crowds - I understand that we will be on a ship and there will be noise - but as quiet as possible would be lovely. Also this cabin seems to be in a "corner" - will our neighbors be able to see our entire verandah from their verandah? Some privacy i always nice.

Regarding our classic beverage package, I understand that most regular cocktails are included in this package. I am a huge fan of frozen cocktails - where on the Silhouette can you get these?

Oceanview Café looks great - will we be served drinks at the table, or do we need to go to a bar for our wines, etc?

I will probably have more questions - but thank you so much for your help!

When we cruise we always get a cabin on deck 7 or 8 as we have cabins above us and below us. You will have stores below you but I do not think it will be all that bad. As for drinks in the Oceanview they have waiters that come by and they will be happy to get you your cocktails. This will be our 10+ cruise on Celebrity and we just are thrilled with this cruise line. Have a great cruise. We are on the Silly in Jan. 2018. Jeff and Wendy

I'm not directly familiar with that room. However, the general location is very good. We like being by the elevators (just a few doors off). That way it is easy access but not busy.

Regarding drinks, you can get lots of things (including frozen ones). Just make sure you let the waiter/bartender know you have the classic package. They should be able to use the liquor brands that fit into that price range (which are still pretty darn good). The wine selection, unfortunately, is pretty limited - even on the premium package.

I will be on the Silhouette on the April 9 sailing this year, so we may see you! I was on this same sailing last year and had a blast. The drink (and dinner) menus from that cruise are here (https://goo.gl/photos/kbWoo3hRLaURB3LU6).

Goede reis!

Thank you for your tips and the menus, it seems like most of what we drink at home is covered. I can live with prosecco, some rosé, some cabernet and some pinot grigio so I don't think I need to upgrade - it looks like this selection is better than what is typically offered at all inclusive resorts etc. which is what I have previously done to satisfaction!

I will be on the April 16 Sailing - so we cross each other at FLL. :)

Cheers on booking your first cruise. I'm sure you'll fall in love with Celebrity as we did six years ago.

The frozen drinks can be had at a few different bars. The most popular to find them will be at the pool bar or sunset bar. As others have said just let them know you have the classic package. Also, tell them what you like (fruit wise) and they're usually able to come up with something different for you that might not be on the menu. We always make sure to befriend a couple bartenders. It makes the experience that much better, especially when the bars become crowded.

Almost all the martinis at the martini bar will not be covered by the classic package, but you can ask for a martini covered under the classic and they can make smaller versions of standard martinis for you in a smaller martini glass.

Enjoy your cruise!

Thank you for the tips! The classic package seems perfect for us!

Hello everyone again!

The prices on our cruise seems to have been reduced and the website gives me the opportunity to upgrade to Aqua Class for almost nothing. However it does not state if I will keep or miss my beverage package if I upgrade. Does anyone know?

I just called celebrity and was quoted a much higher rate if I wanted to upgrade. Also the Celebrity reps seems to be focused on upselling rather than helping me which is a bit disappointing.

Changing usually involves losing orig perks..

You have to call, get all details and do the math

Does the online price include perks?

Is it an AQ guarantee or can u select your room..some AQ better than others.

We always cruise AQ so usually do not get any better deals along the way...Others seem to do very well..

I see that before I posted, you were able to upgrade to Concierge Class and keep your perks. Good for you. Sometimes there are rates (like resident or senior) that don't include perks so it's important to be sure you understand what you get.

Did you say you're sailing on April 16th? If so, we'll be joining you. Come over and join the roll call.

Yes - I will be on the 16th sailing! We actually upgraded to Aqua as that difference was small too. Aqua was about the same price as our original cat 2C cabin. A steal I think!

I've been watching the prices as well. We're doing this as an inexpensive option, with mileage for one way air, and got a decent price coming home. Sailing from NY or NJ was much higher, even with the air included. But if I see the veranda cabins coming down further, we might make a change.

We were on Silhouette in Dec 2015 and loved it! We both had the Classic Pkg included and had no issue getting what we wanted. I have Patron Margaritas, beer, hubby had jack/sprite, etc. Like others have said, just let them know you have the classic and they will make you a drink that works

Ships is so gorgeous. We have nothing but fantastic things to say about it. Hubby thought it was the best food of ALL the cruises we have been on and we have been on alot!

Beware! You may never want to cruise without an Aqua Class cabin again. You will have unlimited access to the Persian Gardens, a great place to relax, and your dining room will be Blu, a more intimate venue that focuses on fresh ingredients and good service. Also, the Blu sommelier will make sure you get the right wines that fit within your package and pair well with your meals.

Some people will downplay both of these benefits but we love them.

Be careful as I just dealt with Celebrity with regard to receiving the lower prices they are currently offering. I booked with Celebrity so I called them as the price of my cruise C3 on Silhouette (Mar 17) dropped $400. The agent said he couldn't see the price change until I went online and reserved it myself. Only then did they give me the same cabin and perks (OBC and DP) with the lower fare.

That was my impression too when I called Celebrity. They tried to sell me to the highest category without asking what I want and also telling me that the price I gave from the internet must be wrong. When I called back, the same person answered and hung up on me - I guess I will be handling Celebrity myself / or via Email in the future.

Perhaps I should have been more specific. I apologize. Bring up your reservation online. Call Celebrity and ask about upgrading to the new price. If they tell you they can't see the new price with the same perks then reserve the new price online (its a 48 hour hold so not paid for). They should be able to see the new reservation. Once the agent saw that I was able to reserve the new price, he then moved my current reservation to the new price with my original perks and specific room. Nothing changed except the price. He was a little short with me at first until I could prove that I was able to procure the new price.

The strange thing for me is when I go on to Celebrity to look at pricing for April 2/17 Silhouette sailing, it tells me there are sold out of balcony, concierge and aqua cabins but I see they are still available at other agencies. If I click I want an inside cabin, I am ok and then if I hit a specific cabin (Concierge) it tells me it's available but does not offer any perks. It has been doing this for the past 3 days.

Another update - I called celebrity to enquire about the price to upgrade to "Go BEST" with all four perks included, and the beverage package upgraded to premium - the price for this was about $ 470 for the two of us for our 7 day cruise. I guess since we were on a second person half off offer, this also applies for the upgrade to Go BEST. Anyway - this includes $ 300 worth of OBC and $ 196 worth of gratuities, and the beverage package is upgraded to Premium - also we get the internet package, which I would never have paid for but since it is included its a great perk. So basically $ 470 for the value of $ 496. We would never have paid to upgrade to the premium package - but in this case its basically FREE!

Doing the happy dance for the millionth time regarding this cruise!
