Tap water safe?

I travel internationally a lot. A whole lot.

 

In general when I am abroad I try to limit myself to bottled water and avoid ice. This is particularly true when I visit less developed places.

 

With that said I have no knowledge of Tahiti and the pg.

 

I imagine the water onboard PG is great and we can safely have frozen beverages, use the water for teeth brushing etc. is this an accurate assumption? How is the water at the IC Tahiti. What are your experienced?

Water is just fine in French Polynesia. I still buy bottled though but I do that in NJ also. I think water on all cruise ships is terrible tasting by the way. The PG is no different. In drinks it's fine but at meals get a bottle.

I typically avoid uncooked foods prepared with water also, such as salads, have you all found these to be safe?

Been to French Polynesia 8 times. Been on a bunch of cruises on the PG also. Never gotten sick or felt bad.

We drank the tap water and used ice on the PG. No problems at all. We used bottled at the IC and on shore excursions and didn't drink anything with ice or which might have been washed with local water on land.

20 trips to FP, 13 land based, 7 by cruise ship. We've never gotten sick. Usually use bottled water but have ahad numerous drinks made with ice on the ships, never a problem. Have eaten many salads both on land and sea in FP, never a problem.
