Cruiser Bruiser Posted January 11, 2017 #201 Share Posted January 11, 2017 I couldn't figure out why the new studios seem so spacious. Having sailed in a studio twice on Epic, I know that I never had that much floor space. There was maybe six inches between the bed and the closet. The answer: the bed is much narrower. Guest surveys must have indicated that most studio passengers aren't entertaining at home that much. ;)
timf2001 Posted January 11, 2017 #202 Share Posted January 11, 2017 There must be a New York to Miami in there somewhere. Any word on that?

txagfan Posted January 11, 2017 #204 Share Posted January 11, 2017 I always thought the ropes courses gave quite a big bang for the buck. They offer continuous loading, occupy a large group of participants, and provide a decent level of excitement. There's also the "magic" of pausing in place and appreciating your spot high above the sea. Because of this, they always felt like an extension to a cruise experience, not a sideshow land-based activity. Hopefully the new features on the Bliss will be implemented in a similiar fashion. Hopefully. Well said...I completely agree. Seems silly like that goofy capsule on Royal that extends over the ship. Goofy. kdzkatz Posted January 11, 2017 #205 Share Posted January 11, 2017 Kinda bummed it's going thru Sawyer Glacier and not Glacier Bay... Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk You mean it's going to go to the mouth of Tracey Arm and spin in a circle for a few hours since it will be iced out. I really scratch my head why they want to put a mega ship on the itinerary where much smaller ship are often turned away because of ice. I guess if they indeed did make this ship for Alaska they will have a reinforced hull and be able to break through the ice. If that is the case then I would really look forward to crashing through Tracey Arm up to the glacier. :D
CroNich Posted January 11, 2017 #206 Share Posted January 11, 2017 (edited) I see your point but aren't all the other activities you mention gimmicky as well? I mean golf on a ship? Or a ropes course or rock climbing? Why is a go kart any different? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk There is a definite difference between a low maintenance, low noise activity like golf and rock climbing; both of which can be easily fitted into the design of a ship, rather than a loud, bulky, ugly race track. I guess I was incorrect to say I disliked 'gimmicky' attractions on a ship, it just depends on the context. I'm actually a fan of the Skyrider attraction on the Carnival Vista because of how well it is implemented into the design of the ship and doesn't take away from the 'cruising experience'. In my opinion there is no place for go carting on a cruise ship as, unlike on rock climbing and on a ropes course, theres no chance to stop and appreciate you are in the middle of the ocean, but different strokes for different folks I guess. The Alaska prices have remained high for years so there seems to be a demand. Plus somewhere in time they'll probably market "...youngest fleet in Alaska...". cot427 Posted January 11, 2017 #208 Share Posted January 11, 2017 In typical cruise line IT fashion, while I am surprised the Bliss even shows up at this point (pre-sale for Latitudes members today) the itinerary times are all messed up and only balconies have pricing. I guess I'm a little early - I'll give it some time.

LrgPizza Posted January 11, 2017 #211 Share Posted January 11, 2017 (edited) They can just make the main pool a little smaller, right? LOLOLOL Honestly, I agree that this is a very small draw for the space it takes up, and I get the feeling it will have to be closed down a LOT for wind and stuff, but we will see.I'd imagine it would be closed down much less for wind than the ropes courses are. You lost me at the race track. I'm all for having fun activities on the ship, such as slides, golf etc.. but when cruise lines start trying to add gimmicky features that end up taking up too much space and ruining the flow of the ship then I'm out. If I wanted to go go karting I would find somewhere to do it on land, being on a ship does not add anything to a go-karting experience. I'm not sure how these things up on the top deck ruin the flow of the ship. They in no way interfere with your walk from your suite to the buffet. Also, what you say about go-karting sounds exactly like what I say about casinos. Yet, to each his own, right? I think the go karts sound fun. RMS Olympic Posted January 11, 2017 #213 Share Posted January 11, 2017 I booked the June 4th sailing! I had planned on booking a cabin forward on deck 14 only to find the bridge has been lowered from 15 ( like on the escape) to 14. So I got a cabin on 13 overlooking the bow. Very excited about the observation lounge. Still wondering what the pool deck will look like as it becomes very important once she heads to the Caribbean. I just hope NCL stops the habit of overcrowding these ships through 3rd and 4th free. My sailing on Escape had an extra 1000 passengers crammed onboard. I do not like sardine cans. So my love hate of NCL continues.....but I still booked Bliss. Now to set my sights on the Celebrity Edge nor Nov 2018. Variety is the spice of life they say.😉

Can someone please direct me as to how to find the info. when checking on ncl.com make sure you are logged in, then select for only Bliss and you will see the 8 possible cruise options populate and then look. The graphics aren't up, limited info on itineraries, limited floor plans visible, only balcony rooms available. as an aside, I learned there are only 4 large balconies (B6) on the entire ship, all the way forward on deck 8. JC5240 Posted January 11, 2017 #220 Share Posted January 11, 2017 (edited) Just booked an aft facing balcony for the Miami - Eastern Caribbean sailing November 24 - December 1 2018 for $1,019. I'm still in shock. That can't be right, can it?! I was shaking as I booked it, as I was expecting the site to crash or tell me it was wrong lol. I booked through the mobile site, as for some reason the site online wasn't loading at all (it is now). My only concern is that it still says in my vacation summary that the cruise is "on-hold" even though I paid my deposit. Is that a cause for concern, or is it because of timing? I also haven't received any confirmation yet from NCL via email. EDIT - Never mind regarding the "on-hold" -- it just changed to "booked" This is so exciting! The last time I watched a ship being built from the ground up that I was going to end up on was the Breakaway back in 2012/2013 (which was also my first cruise). Since The Bliss opened today for bookings, it might take just a bit longer because of the volume load.
