No offense and not trying to be snarky but simply look on the NCL website.

Not offended at all. thanks. Looks like this is not something available on the Dawn, maybe that is why I didn't see any mention of it when I was looking at cabin options

You are correct, there is no Haven or Vibe on the Dawn.

The Haven is a collection of suites on some ships that are sold at a premium price. For this price they get a private dining room, lounge, and pool/sundeck area. So, unless you have a cabin in the haven (not available on all ships), you'll never notice it.

Vibe is a private sundeck on some ships which you can purchase a pass for when you get onto the ship. Think it's around $100. The problem is that to maintain the "exclusive" atmosphere they only sell a few passes so it doesn't get crowded, so it's difficult to get a pass unless you are in an early boarding group (primarily suites and high loyalty tier customers). Again, unless you get a pass to it, don't think you'll even notice that it's there.

Good info to know if we like this NCL cruise and decide to try another.

that is mentioned in 90% of posts on this board? Is it a private part of the ship for certain cabins? Also what is Vibe? Sailing on the Dawn, do I need to be in the know on these things? Thanks!

So you are new to NCL - while the DAWN does not have a Haven it does have

Garden suites (2 of 'em on Deck 14 above Cagneys and Moderno).

These are the best most deluxe cabins that can be had on the DAWN.

Descending from that category are the most expensive to least:

Deluxe Owners Suites

Owner Suites

Penthouse Suites

Family Suites

Mini-Suite (nothing more than a Balcony Cabin with a bathtub instead of psycho shower curtain)

Balcony Cabin

Ocean view Cabin

Obstructed view Cabin

and lastly the Inside Cabin

If you go to the NCL website and browse around to find the Deck Plan for your

ship you will be looking at a diagram with cabins with various colors that

indicate the type of cabin - note that not all cabins are the same size even

in each category.

Every cabin on the ship has a Cabin Steward assigned to clean it up and turn it down at night.

Suites (all types except the mini) have a Butler and a Concierge to compliment

the level of service. Butlers may have quite a few cabins to service while the

ship like the DAWN has one Concierge.

Havens and Vibes are found on the -Away class ships.

Perhaps something was lost in the translation with a previous poster - Please

go easy - Halloween really gets on peoples nerves ! Peace !

From what I gather smoking is allowed in Vibe if that is a concern

Probably just by the bar but it doubtful that's enforced and smoke travels

The Haven description isn't quite accurate for all NCL ships.

All NCL ships that have a Haven area do have the private lounge/pool area, which can be a very nice place.

And ALL NCL suites get Butler/Concierge service, regardless of whether there is a Haven or not.

(A few ships have Haven and non-Haven suites.)

However, not all Havens have a separate "Haven restaurant". The older ships' Havens do not. Those use one of the dinner specialty restaurants for suite passengers' breakfast and lunch, but there is no place "special for suites" for dinners on those ships.

Of course, one can always have the Butler serve meals en suite.

We enjoy leaving a standing order for breakfast (food choice and time), and the Butler came in very quietly, set the table, and departed quietly if we weren't already awake.

(This works a bit better if there is a separated bedroom area, but it also works when the BR and LR are one open area. The Butlers are professionals, and they are used to this type of thing.)

We've found that the Butlers can add tremendously to the cruise.

Having specific snacks waiting at certain times of day (such as when returning from an excursion) is always a pleasure.

The main "problem" we found was that if we asked for, say, grapes or certain cookies, and ate them all, the next time there was "more". And if we ate those, then there was still more the next time. It didn't take long for the platter to look like it was for a large party, and we had to ask for *less* (because we WOULD "eat it all").

On the first day of the cruise, we have a short letter ready for the Butler, with some brief info about "us", and then things that we would appreciate help from the Butler.

We had this to him/her upon first meeting, saying something like "This is more info about us so you can look it over after the hectic first part of today".

Remember: The Butlers have to learn about everyone new that first afternoon, etc.

Several times, the Butler has returned later that first day or early the next day, letter in hand, asking a few questions.
