mrizer7773 Posted November 7, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2016 I've heard some interesting theories as to how to "enhance" your odds on board. People that swear by looser slots early in a cruise, and people that swear by looser later in a cruise. Early in the day vs late in the evening, etc. I've always approached casinos as a part of the cost of entertainment, not expecting to win, just to have a great time. So the question arises, what do you do or not do to "enhance" your odds?
troykahack Posted November 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 7, 2016 I know one thing that is for sure, you enhance your odds of not losing by not betting. I know from lots of experience.

Rare shipshape sam Posted November 7, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 7, 2016 Ahhhh Come on!!! You can't win if you don't play! :D True, but then you don't lose either. I like to watch, especially now with the higher table limits that I have seen on last couple of cruises. I pick a person and play vicariously through them. Want to nudge them sometimes, but have never been that brazen.:) After about 15 minutes, I move on. DW likes to play the gimmick slots that go to levels and side places. I will sit down next to her sometimes and play along till I lose $5 or $10 or win sometimes too. Overall I am up due to my dumb luck on one cruise where I thought I was playing a penny slot, but it's default was a quarter and I won big. :) That's gambling and dumb luck. ronandcarla Posted November 8, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 8, 2016 We always play Craps for our cruise entertainment and allocate about $1000 for the week and I believe that has the best odds for winning; we have done quite well in the past and of course lost our allotment for the week on other cruises. cb at sea Posted November 8, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 8, 2016 IF you win something in a cruise casino, you are lucky indeed! We always view gambling as "entertainment"...we have a set amount of "entertainment" funds....and if we lose them all, we can still pay our bills! If we win....hip hip HOORAY! Now THAT'S entertainment!!!
troykahack Posted November 8, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 8, 2016 Ahhhh Come on!!! You can't win if you don't play! :D Oh, but I do play and reason for knowing first hand my experience. But always had a good time. Never bet more than I can afford to lose.

slyster Posted November 8, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 8, 2016 Are the odds better in a particular game versus another? I'm assuming the one with less odds may have a bigger pay out though? I would rather win little with better odds, but that's because I'm selfish with my money. I haven't played in a casino in about 3 or 4 years. I haven't played in a casino in about 3 or 4 years. Odds are always in the favor of the House.... I hear the Pass and Don't Pass areas of Craps are the safest bet but not as rewarding as other bets. Some will say otherwise... I am not a Poker or BJ fan as I play to have fun... many so serious that if you take the wrong hit or pass on a hit, they get upset... only play Bj if it is a table of like minded friends or people. kontraxed Posted November 8, 2016 #14 Share Posted November 8, 2016 Other than the intense smoke, my wife and I enjoy playing slot machines. Like a previous person mentioned, we go with a casino budget and when that's gone - we're done. On most cruises, we typically lose, but on one cruise, my wife hit a jackpot that pretty much paid for our cruise. That was really nice but you have to understand that is the rare exception. Craps pass/no pass has the best odds for you to win a little (still favors house slightly) but they make up for that with lots of rules and side bets that distract you. And that's in ANY casino, including the ships' - same rules. Stay away from the other table-games though. They have YHUGE House Edges. Hope This Helps. TO add though to this, in order to play and get the house advantage close to even you need to place 5 times odds on a pass-line bet, the problem with cruise ships is that they only offer single odds. Only when i'm on cruise ships i tend to place numbers instead, better chances for me and always BUY the 4 and 10 if you decide to play them. Good info... for new players, Pass or Don't Pass just easiest to play until they learn the rest of the table. And yes, 4 and 10 good bets as long as craps is not rolled.... Bookster99 Posted November 8, 2016 #22 Share Posted November 8, 2016 I have read in Fodor's that casinos at sea are pretty much unregulated, so they are usually pretty tight. Fodor's recommends getting off the ship in ports that have casinos and gambling there.

And that's in ANY casino, including the ships' - same rules. Not same rules. No competition from other casinos, so they can tune the rules to their favor. No odds or not enough odds in craps. Restricting the # of splits in blackjack. Restricting what you can double down on in blackjack. No insurance available (positive bet if taken in correct circumstances) in blackjack. If people don't knwo how to play blackjack optimally, these restricted rules actually help the player - less rope to hang themselves with. ;) Edited November 9, 2016 by ThirstyCruiser
ThirstyCruiser Posted November 9, 2016 #24 Share Posted November 9, 2016 Close to 50/50 odds...Black/Red Odds/Evens Both on Roulette! 😊 On a double zero wheel, actually not close to 50/50. OK, real close to 50/50 when compared to Keno or Powerball, but not when compared to a lot of other bets in the casino. Well, like all gambling, I guess its all exactly 50/50 - either I win, or I don't! :D
