Vista Review... Not Impressed...

LOL, I think this is the first time I have seen the dress code enforcement tied to tips. While a unique thought, I have a hard time thinking it passes muster.

I have no proof that it has ever happened but my belief is that their are people who would use being turned away from the MDR or the Libo buffet for improper dress as an excuse to remove tips. Just as I have heard of people who got caught smoking on their balcony and turned in by their cabin steward as a reason to remove tips. Granted, for those types of people, it's just an excuse and if they didn't use that they would have probably thought of something else instead.

Ok, I get it, I misunderstood your post. I tend to agree with you.

Yeh, I wouldn't spend precious vacation time waiting on lines...I would do something else and try to sneak in later...lol

Don't know why they wouldn't go to a free ticket or reservations system as other lines have done with their smaller entertainment venues. Reserve an available spot, scan your card to get in. Small standby line to fill for the no-shows.

Thanks for the review. We are on Vista in March and splurged on an aft balcony. Havana didn't appeal--just seemed too public. I have never been on a new Carnival ship before nor one that large and wanted to try it. As an Army brat, I am compulsively early places so have never ever had a problem getting a seat for a show. Perhaps this will test me. We love the production and comedy shows. Then he goes to bed and I hit the casino.

So much angst over the new menu. Anxious to try it.

Neutral and bland decor may be a nice change from the bordello colors of Inspiration and other earlier ships. Like being in New Orleans on acid.

Also, we were once on Emerald Princess when they were hosting a huge batch of Princess employees. It was a pain. Specialty restaurants were booked solid. Bars packed with many large groups.

Headed for a week on Regal the day we leave Vista. The back-to-back comparison will be interesting. Though I expect both cruises will have their share of spring breakers. Which can also make for an interesting cruise.

But any day at sea is a good day. Give me the sea, the stars and a book and I am in heaven. Oh and a ship on a stick for winning a trivia game!

OH!!! We are also on an aft balcony in March in the Havana catagory which may be a very good thing because I totally forgot when I booked it that it was Spring Break!!! Hopefully because the Vista is new and the prices are not that low AND it being a weeks cruise the ship will not be over run by crazyiness!!

These days they allow people in bathing suits and guys with no shirts in lido. Losing their standards

I'd prefer people grab a cover-up or t-shirt, but this doesn't actually bother me. It's not much different than the people eating lunch in swimsuits at a water park. I love dressing elegantly for dinner and wish everyone would, but I consider the Lido in the daytime and the MDR at night to be two completely different worlds.

As for the Vista, I have heard similar complaints about another cruiseline's mega ships. I look at each ship class as having its own pros and cons. Fortunately, detailed reviews help people choose which ship best meets their needs. I prefer fantasy class when cruising without kids, but my kids prefer the sports decks on the huge ships. I'm not thrilled with the pay theater, but maybe that appeals to others?

I do wish they'd solve the comedy club issues, but I'm not sure what the solution is -- I hate the idea of being forced to decide ahead of time which night we'll want to go to comedy and book tickets. What if there's a good movie on Lido or my kids are feeling seasick?

Think it is gross that people swelter in the sun come into lido all sweaty and sit at same tables that I do with no cover up or t shirt

Dinner time dont really care how people dress

Programming a reservation system costs money. Purchasing scanners costs money. Maintenance and repair of faulty scanners costs money. Purchasing new S&S card printers so that they could create a bar code costs money. People standing in line for an hour doesn't cost Carnival anything. I get it.

We're in a Havana Inside over Spring Break. Not worried about craziness as the general population is not allowed in the Havana area until after 1700.

There was a tablecloth on the 20 seat circular in the Reflections MDR on "elegant" night.

Must have taken a few looms to create a single non seamed covering, because that table is HUGE.

Can't wait to see that table. A 12 top is the largest I've seen on Carnival so far.

It doesn't matter if it bothers you or me. What matters is those folks are violating dress policy for the buffet and should be denied entry until they meet that policy.

"...was very reminiscent of the music they would play on Titanic, especially when she actually played the Titanic Movie Theme Song...

Wow, choose one song that should never be played on a floating device:(

They seem to play this song on all the carnival cruises we've been on... on my very first cruise it left me feeling a little concerned but we all survived. But such a weird song to play.

Oh, it changed? Even better (not that I'm trying to be a snob.....just booked the Havana for hopefully a little less rowdiness).

Yes, the time changed while the ship was in Europe. Nothing snobby about wanting a little peace and quiet. We absolutely loved the Havana area.

While we did not stay in it on July Med cruise, someone in our group did (we ended up booking the same room for our upcoming April Vista cruise). I fell in love with the area, and during a conversation at the diamond meeting, we found out they were going to extend the tine. I think it is fine doing so and can't wait to experience Havana Cabana area.

At what time do the folks not staying in the Havana area need to leave?

Yes, but they have to be out by some time for the clock to start over again. Midnight, 2 in the morning, 6 in the morning????

When the pool closes is what I would think. The Havana bar area is always open to everyone.
