Haven Suites issues is this good or bad?

Now I am starting to see a trend with the last two cruises I booked that I have not seen before and it has to do with Haven rooms.

Now they are trying this bidding system everyone on here knows this. You bid on a Haven room if you get the email you cannot bid below or above the slider.

I noticed last cruise and the one I have coming up even, 60 days out only a hand full of the Haven rooms are booked to me it looks like everyone is just bidding on them no one is buying them out right. I dont blame them I did it too.

IS this going to cause the end of the bidding system or will they bring the price down on the rooms because the currant prices are way out of wack.

I hope they keep the bidding system but I see it getting changed. I hope I am wrong.

OH one thing is after bidding tell me the average amount of time you have to wait to find out on your bid?

Last time I think I waited till the last 30 days.

The problem with Haven cabins (and similar setups on many other cruise lines) is that, once you step out of the Haven environment, you're still on the ship you are trying to "escape." For the equivalent of that extra Haven cabin cost and the various a la carte additional charges onboard, there are better experiences (and no nickel/dining et al. $ add-ons) on higher end cruise lines.

Do the bottom line "net daily rate" calculations and you may be very surprised at the true value comparison.

Only a guess but I think they'll still have the high Haven prices. Looking at the 2018/2019 prices they are up in most cases where I checked compared to prior years which already went up quite a bit.

Not everyone who sails in the Haven/Yacht Club is trying to "escape" from the masses. I hate using terms to describe groups of people but the term that the industry uses is "hybrid-cruiser" for people who want the seclusion at times but also want the excitement of a mega-ship (water-slides, go-cart track, bumper cars, zip-line, etc.)

I wouldn't want to sail on Regent, HAL or the other high-end lines with my kids as they would be bored senseless.

speaking of hybrid, the spa suites are the most hybrid there is. your room is 'next to the common man' yet you have a butler and access to the spa and the haven. whereas the haven proper people have to fork over 200 more for the spa . i think those rooms are the best deal around really. if you look at the sq ft of the higher priced rooms like the penthouse its really not a great deal.

also i noticed on the new ship they are building the haven spa room can take 3 people . i guess the hot tub in there is larger? :) very cozy but we wont get into that kind of talk.

one thing i DO think that is worth it is haven in winter. i took a DEC cruise last month and really wish i had the haven access i had in october. many bad weather days that trip

There are a lot of Havens room "out with the common women". We've been in both forward facing and aft facing Havens room which are cheaper, much larger, and nicer than those in the havens courtyard on the mega ships. We're not looking to escape anything.

Well, count me as a hybrid cruiser! I could not have said it better myself. This was exactly our experience on the Breakaway in September. Loved the activities, diversity of offerings and the energy of the ship proper, but also loved the peace and serenity behind that haven door! And after spending the night at dinner and then a show or casino nothing beats hitting the haven lounge for a night cap ;)
