hawkeyetlse Posted January 28, 2017 #251 Share Posted January 28, 2017 The sparkling wine and the bottle included with dinner aren't all that special. You're better off choosing something from the more expansive wine list, by the glass. The list of wines by the glass available under the UBP is less expansive than the Platinum dinner wine list. On our last cruise, there were only 18 wines available by the glass (one over $15), but over 30 bottles to choose from with the Platinum voucher. In both cases, what's on the list and what's actually available on that ship or at that particular venue on that day are two different things. cruiseaddictColleen Posted January 28, 2017 #252 Share Posted January 28, 2017 My husband & I both have the same tier level (platinum). Will we both get the two free dinners that are listed? If that's the case that would be 4 dinners and I would not take the specialty dining perk on our next sailing. Thanks!

Uniall Posted January 28, 2017 #254 Share Posted January 28, 2017 Wow a legend in your own mind. What I think is funny is you are complaining because you aren't getting your free cruise via "Ambassador" Tier but I get them for free all the time. I know who reallly has the "class envy". To quote my favorite US President: "There you go again." :D I'm complaining because the widely rumored plan to increase the number of tiers was changed and sprung on a Friday, allowing only 4 work days to understand the new rules and work with them to reach my ongoing plan to hit 700 points. It was the early posters on this thread (especially the OP) who provided the info that was unavailable from NCL Miami/Mesa in order to deal with the deadline. Thanks to those posters, I have now put courtesy holds on sailings I like and will do the job.
dexddd Posted January 28, 2017 #255 Share Posted January 28, 2017 Officially posted on NCL. Now they are limiting the meal to one appetizer, one dessert, and one meal up to $20. Haven't read all 13 pages, but in 1 day they managed to CHEAPEAN it already? I think you must be joking but the way NCL operates, not sure.

You'll get the 7 day cruise whenever you make it, so that's nothing that needs to be planned. Edited January 28, 2017 by CruisinHarvey
jmele999 Posted January 28, 2017 #257 Share Posted January 28, 2017 I was sitting here thinking about the wording "free" cruise at the Ambassador level and reflecting on this reward. If you started today at zero points you would have to do 50 seven-day sailings booked with a Latitudes inside offer in a non-suite category to achieve ambassador status. If you did these sailings in the cheapest inside staterooms and assume about $750 per individual per cruise for fare, fees and taxes, that "free" cruise will cost you $37,500 (and you pretty much need to do it with someone else or pay a massive single supplement unless you do studio sailings as a solo exclusively). I hope that "free" cruise is at least in a balcony or mini suite ;) Oh - and yes I understand there are hundreds of different calculations you could do to get a different number but the point I'm making is you have to spend a whole lot of money to get something for "free". I was thinking the same thing, but did not do the math. That means that if you only book seven days cruises, you are going to need to book 100 of them before you can get a "free" cruise. And remember that nothing is free with NCL, you are probably going to responsible for paying taxes, fees, and gratuities on your "free" cruise. Overall, I would have been happier if NCL gave us a discount based on latitudes status instead of the free cruise. For example, 5% for platinum, 10% - for platinum plus and 20% for Ambassador. dexddd Posted January 28, 2017 #258 Share Posted January 28, 2017 Well, it's been a long time since they have done anything to really tick off the masses, so this is long overdue. Figures. We've got a 29 day and a 14 day already booked. The Platinum reward has been a "choose one from each category" for awhile, but that $20 limit?. Is there even a main on the Cagneys menu which is under $20? Nothing says "we value your business" like giving you a free chicken dinner. Edit: Totally off topic, but anyone else seeing anything different with this forum as far as the format? It now looks totally different for some reason, from the moment I hit the "reply" box. Only on page 4 now, but it appears that post is true. $20 - that was what I was thinking. How many entrees are under $20 at Cagneys? Le Bistro for Plat went from pretty much anything to the 1-1-1 and now they are wanting to make money off you for your loyalty. Is there 18% on your overage?? dexddd Posted January 28, 2017 #260 Share Posted January 28, 2017 Could be in Garden Cafe for all we know [emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app That's funny. And probably limited to 1 app, 1 entree, 1 side, 1 dessert.
dexddd Posted January 28, 2017 #261 Share Posted January 28, 2017 Is the Tomahawk gone? I didn't see it on the pictured menu either. Depends which ship - there are at least 2 Cagney's menus out there.
CruisinHarvey Posted January 28, 2017 #262 Share Posted January 28, 2017 (edited) The $20 max is nothing new. It was really already there. I just stated that way now. If look at the menu's, it doesn't eliminate anything you could get before. Of course, if they raise menu prices, that will be different story. AlexandNessa Posted January 28, 2017 #264 Share Posted January 28, 2017 I have to wonder at the logic behind giving a bottle of sparkling wine to pretty much everyone now, but only giving Platinum Plus an extra bottle of water ... I'm just throwing this one out there: not a big fan of the name they chose, Platinum Plus. At least hip it up a bit: Platinum + PLATINUM+! PP .... ??? dexddd Posted January 28, 2017 #265 Share Posted January 28, 2017 I don't understand "Priority Restaurant Seating". How does that work with Freestyle dining? Are all the better tables held back now? That means you will get a table starboard.

I think it is because the sparkling wine is really cheap, so it is cost effective to give it to everyone, because some think it is a big deal. dexddd Posted January 28, 2017 #267 Share Posted January 28, 2017 It is the same for the behind the scenes tour. They are counting on people not wanting to stand in line at guest services on day 1 to get the information of when/where. What I would give to be part of the next few Meet & Greets on the ships lol Quite a few of the ships have a "mail" slot so you could just drop it in there. We were going to do that the last trip but there were only 2 couples in line in front of us and they had 2 people working so we stood in line. Should have dropped it an ran as one of the couples went on and on about how they paid too much and wanted refund, how wife had foot stepped on in embarkation line, how wife hurt hip on railing, blah, blah, blah. dexddd Posted January 28, 2017 #268 Share Posted January 28, 2017 We will be three adults in a two-bed suite, all of us Platinim Plus, on our next cruise in June. It will be interesting to see how the "meal for two and one per stateroom" will be handled. Clearly this rule is written for couples with or without children, so how will our adult Platinum Plus daughter receive any of the incentives she is apparently entitled to in the new program, if she cruises with us in one of the 2-bed suites? That is my question too. From what they've posted, DD is SOL.

That's what I'd prefer - a discount. The whole free cruise is so vague at this point - what category, ship, destination, etc. My guess is a 7 day anywhere in a mini-suite or balcony plus you pay all the govt fees, etc. One time event when you hit 700. Is it for 2 or just the Ambassador? Not really concerned about it but just more for fun to see how it plays out.

lanceholt Posted January 28, 2017 #273 Share Posted January 28, 2017 To paraphrase the great song "the cowboy and the farmer can be friends" from the musical, "Oklahoma": "The Inside Cabin and the Suite guests can be friends" :D I still don't understand quite. We cruise suite most of the time, but different strokes for different folks. I am not on the boards constantly, but haven't noticed much "latent class envy". BLACKBURNROVERS Posted January 28, 2017 #274 Share Posted January 28, 2017 Just a lot of people knit picking things to death. Well said. The hundreds of posts, moaning about everything that moves on a ship is beyond belief. They even complain about how many points they have and get upset if things change and they think that others are getting a better deal. Very, very petty. I used to think that CC meant "Constant Complaints".
