Good news - he/she will do it.

Bad news - without knowing what he/she is doing at the time, it might take longer than you going to get it yourself.

this is what my butler did for me. room service bfast on disembark day from haven restaurant. very good choice!

room service 2 or 3 times. the pizza is very good as are the chicken nuggets

never had him retrieve anything for us. gotta admit in a year on this forum i've never seen that asked. but i guess that would be one reason to carry the phone around with you.

of course they bring you the afternoon snacks but if you ask for anything specifically , they will get that for you instead of the default snack of the day. gummy bears and m and m is something they can bring . i forget what else.

just make sure you let them know early about your preferences. like the morning before you leave cabin. if you leave a note at 1pm you arent gonna make them happy

One time, while waiting for a show,my son wanted a can of Mt Dew, so he went back to the cabin to grab 1 from the refrigerator. He came back with the, in his words, "butler phone". Turns out the butler saw him and said if he ever wanted another one, just call him and he would bring one . Tyler thought that was amazing.....well, that and the fact that the butler called him Master Tyler.:D

Let's see... my well-tipped Butlers have:

• located and retrieved a misplaced backpack

• brought us (without asking) hot chocolate and warmed towels when we were returning from a very chilly excursion and also ran us a hot bath

• retrieved a meal from the main dining room when a parent had to dash a sick child back to the cabin

• arranged for the chef in a specialty restaurant to prepare a dessert that was removed from the menu (a joint effort with the concierge)

• arranged for the chef in the main dining room to prepare my favourite meal (this was a surprise!)

• acted a liaison with concierge, when concierge was hard to locate

• got my kids specially decorated fruity drinks during the Captain's Reception

• tailored our snacks to our tastes

What my un-well-tipped Butler did:

• falsely accused my teenager of stealing the "pool closed for the night" sign from the Courtyard. She did not. I wasn't impressed.

I would say that that is a bit too much, but they would probably do it.

If so, I would tip him very, very well at the end of the cruise.

However, I left my glasses in the Haven restaurant at dinner and called them to let them know I would pick them up in the morning and my butler showed up at my room with the glasses....most of the butlers are fantastic as mine was on my recent cruise.

i never took the phone out of my cabin as i couldnt think of a use for it. also i could never have someone bring me a soda like that. i just would feel like i was abusing the butler.

i would obviously not do well if i was rich. the servants would sit around while i got my own stuff

We asked our butler to "surprise us" each evening by leaving a dessert of his choice in our suite for us to enjoy before we returned in for the evening. We had hot chocolate delivered daily during our Alaska cruise, along with extra blankets so that we could be comfy on our balcony (Pearl Deck 10 AFT). We always have the menus delivered for all of the specialty restaurants the day we board so that we can decide where we want to eat.

Popcorn while watching a movie.....he would make sure that our non-alcoholic sparkling wine was sent to each restaurant (these were complimentary bottles), brought huge bowls of vanilla ice cream one evening when DH was feeling unwell (euphemism for seasick). The list goes on and on....

We have NEVER had a bad butler on NCL and we have been sailing exclusively in suites for over 15 years now! Just meet with him/her when you can, let them know what you like/don't like and they will do everything in their power to accommodate you.

Of course, like everything in life.....YMMV.

We used the phone to order room service snacks, pizza etc from wherever we were, so we didn't have to wait for it when we got back to the room late at night. For example, when we were getting ready to leave the casino, we would call from the casino to order the pizza, and tell our butler we were in casino and to give us a quick ring when it was in route to our room ...

Yeah, we felt weird about it. Tyler never ended up asking. The butler kept giving us suggestions as to what he could bring us. I just kept telling him to bring whatever he wanted to, whenever he had a minute , and if he was too busy, thats ok, lol. He would just smile and surprise us. I do wish we wouldve ordered room service . I order room service at hotels all of the time, but for some reason, never did on the ship.

I think my favorite part of having the butler service, was having drinks and food/snacks waiting for us when we returned from excursions. We had no idea they did this, so were surprised when we returned from our 1st port day, and these things were waiting for us.

We had a deluxe owners suite, so we were provided with 3 bottles of alcohol (we are not heavy drinkers so it was perfect). The drinks the butler brought were regular pitchers of water, ice tea. He kept our refrigerator stocked with Mt Dew when he saw it was Tylers favorite. That soda was included......we didnt purchase the soda package, but did bring our own cups....which is why Tyler went back to the cabin to get his soda when needed.

I am wondering about this comment. I was assuming that only the drinks in the Fridge and drinks that have a cost (including UDP) were charge on the other Haven rooms. I was thinking that water, tea and anything else that was included no matter what would be free if the Butler brought them in. Can anyone verify this?

I believe it was bc we were in the DOS, that the sodas in refrigerator had no charge. The tea and water are free . I believe, but could be mistaken, any alcohol or sodas delivered to room by butler or anyone else, is not covered by the unlimited drink package.

Yes they are. They will tell you they're not. But ask him how it can be done, and voila. Toss a $10 in for good measure and you'll be surprised how much is magically allowed.

On our honeymoon, we were on Jade Haven. On the private sun deck cruising by Greece drinking delivered martini's. And a cheese platter to complement it we did not request.

Haven is amazing. But with anything, treat your help right and they will help you

Hi! We're sailing on the Epic this spring for our first time on NCL, so excited to try it out :) The Haven sounds fantastic, we are hoping to bid up to the next larger room and have never had a butler before, feels a bit odd to me but I bet I could get used to it, lol!

I was wondering what else besides candy/chips they can bring as afternoon snacks that is included? Is the bottled water included? Is there an area where there are snacks and drinks set out so you can help yourself without calling the butler, like a concierge lounge? On the website it mentions that the butler will do your packing? Is that true, and has anyone had this done for them? I can't imagine it actually happening but that would be a like a dream!

Thanks!

Hi all.

I would like to get the seafood extravaganza (or whatever it is called) from the raw bar on the Getaway our first sea day at lunch in the Haven courtyard along with something else from the Haven restaurant. Would I order this with the waiter when I place my meal order or do I need to call the butler to place this order.

Thanks so much!

For us, on the Jade. They had in the central Haven area a constantly refreshed supply of water, tea, coffee, juice and fresh baked cookies. Some days either gummy bears or M&M's. In addition to that you could order anything you want off their "a la Carte" type menu. appetizers, snacks, liquor that the attedants in the Haven will deliver to your location (they want you to keep it in the Haven areas) but will do anywhere for you.

Our special requests were quite sparse:

-One night (sea day). We wanted their standard white table linen room service from Cagneys. It was 3 courses, that were impecibly timed. Like, I was THOROUGHLY impressed.

- My wife does not do seafood, so the daily appetizers that were placed on your table in the room mid-day had two separate ones if it were seafood. I would get the seafood one (small canapes) and she'd get chocolate covered strawberries or some other sandwhich thing.

- We also did breakfast in bed on the second sea day based on the breakfast menu of Cagneys.

There ARE limits to the butler services like candles, hanging stuff etc.... But, you just need to ask the butler if you can order from a restaurant for xxx meal and voila. it's COVERED-as long as you have the UDP-. One morning I had a martini from the Champagne bar brought ot our room during sunset. yea, that was awesome.

Our room attendant knew I liked my top sheet and blanket loosely tucked, and would only tightly tuck in my wife's side of the bed.

We did tip them nicely at the end as a thank you.
