On HAL they move the sail away party from the aft Sea View pool to the Lido pool which has a dome that is closed when it rains.

Depends on layout of ship. Usuallly they simply cancel the sailaway party since there's not usually a suitable indoor site to move it to.

The "sailaway" party is simply passengers in one area having fun! It's not some sort of "planned" event.

On some cruise lines it is definitely a planned and orchestrated event. Some CDs move it into the Atrium or some other area if possible, not the same as on deck but hey whatever rocks your boat. Lol

Used to be a way to push sail-away drink specials. I think that has been reduced by drink packages.

 

Was thinking that there must be a lot of rained out sail-away parties from Seattle so checked the records and in the last two years only one Sunday in June had precipitation and that was just a bit of drizzle for a few minutes - 0.01".
