Airport check in Miami

I cruised out of Miami in Oct of 2015. We checked in at the airport and then took the CCL transportation. We had a late am flight and had a long line to check-in. However, when we arrived at the port (maybe 1pm) we walked right on the ship after showing our S&S cards and dropping our luggage. Did we get on faster? Probably not.

Checking in at MIA does not give you any priority over other cruisers unless you have FTTF. You will not be allowed into the terminal until your check in time. The airport check in was a breeze, would use it again. Took 10 minutes to complete and we were on our way to the port. Entering the terminal, we had a few more procedures to complete overall check in, and were in the waiting area at 11am. Though we are platinum the airport and terminal check ins should be the same for you also. The MIA desk can only be used the day of your cruise.

When we sailed out of Miami in January, we checked in at the airport and purchased transfers. We were able to board immediately after FTTF and before general boarding started. From the Carnival website:

Q: When should I arrive at the terminal?

A: You must arrive at the cruise terminal within the 30 minute check-in window you selected. Check-in windows will be strictly enforced so that we can minimize wait times in the terminal.

Guests who are part of our Priority Program (Diamond, Platinum and suites), have purchased transfers with Carnival or 'Faster to the Fun' must still select a window online, but are invited to come at their leisure, up to one (1) hour prior to sailing - please select your anticipated check-in time so that we can prepare for your arrival onboard. Please keep in mind that transfers and Faster to the Fun may not be available for all sailings. Departure times can be found on your boarding pass.

Check-In Service at Miami International Airport

Carnival guests who fly in through Miami International Airport and sail from either the Port of Miami or Port Everglades, now can check-in for their cruise at the airport.

We are leasing two counters at Concourses ‘D’ and ‘H’ on the day of sailing for this function.

Here is how it works…

  • Guests retrieve their luggage at baggage claim and are directed to their corresponding check-in counter at Concourse ‘D’ or ‘H’, based on flight arrivals.
  • Guests check-in for their cruise, receive a Sail & Sign card and a boarding card that reads ‘Airport Express’ so that we can easily identify them when they arrive at the cruise terminal. Guests who wish to use cash for their Sail & Sign deposit will be instructed to stop by one of the cruise terminal check-in counters or use an on board Sail & Sign kiosk.
  • Guests who did not pre-purchase our optional transportation service are given the option to purchase transfers to the pier during their check-in process.
  • Guests must take their luggage with them whether using our transportation service or other means.
  • When guests arrive at the pier, they are directed to our ‘Airport Express’ security lane for a quick photo ID check and Sail & Sign check.
  • Next, embarkation pictures, security photo and boarding!

Hours of operation for airport check-in: 8:00am-2:00pm (on the day of sailing)

Looking forward to doing this in April. Flight doesn't land until 1:00 p.m., so curious to see how fast we are able to get on board.

Hope you don't have any plane delays.... If you do, with a flight at that time, you might miss the boat.
