denatravels Posted February 22, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2017 I've been on the breakaway for a little more than 48 hours. I have to say that after reading MANY poor reviews, I don't think that I boarded the right ship-- I've been having a great time!! No major complaints, any minor issues have been swiftly taken care of. Very happy so far. Stay tuned-- I will be posting menus when I return on Sunday. bluesea777 Posted February 22, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Well, I booked ourselves on the Breakaway for the March 19 cruise - one of the worst itineraries - in middle of winter - for a couple of reasons - my DH's 70th and I am in a great need of a break from work ... we are going to have a whale of time ourselves in our way. We have never had a bad cruise. We did a 2-nighter CTN on BA in Jan 2015, altho' it was a wee cruise, we enjoyed our time on BA, so looking forward to return to BA. What bad reviews are you talking about??? I must have selective reading of the threads/posts - just like the kids having selective hearing ..... we3k9 Posted February 22, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 22, 2017 cant wait to see the menus but can you answer me two questions now? Does the Cagneys menu still have Lobster Bisque soup and the Fried Fishermans Platter? I hope it does, these are two of my favorites :D

bluesea777 Posted February 22, 2017 #9 Share Posted February 22, 2017 LOL did the same with the Epic...that is why I booked her again next year for another b2b:D We loved the Epic that we went on her 3 times - total 44 days. Rather quirky rooms, but I think she has the best Garden Café and restaurant layouts. We do not have a favourite NCL ship - each ship has her own pros and cons. luvtheships Posted February 22, 2017 #17 Share Posted February 22, 2017 I guess cigarette smoke doesn't bother you You like standing in the atrium You aren't planning to use the pool And the metal bar sticking into your lower back in the theater doesn't bother you I hope you are on the 14 day itin and not the Nassau milk run though....because the great ports make the ship bearable Sent from my iPhone using Forums

There is no smoke problem. We always sit in the atrium. Never have any problems finding a place to sit on deck. (We actually prefer the beautiful hydrotherapy pool in the spa). We were on the inaugural cruise of the BA to the Caribbean and love the itinerary. Never had a bad seat in the theater. We sail a half dozen times a year and are in process of booking our 7th cruise on an -away class ship.

What bad reviews are you talking about??? I must have selective reading of the threads/posts - just like the kids having selective hearing ..... My wife and I are also booked on the Breakaway on Mar 19. We are also in your age bracket. We also just need to get away, without all of the hassle of getting on a plane to Florida. We're from the Philadelphia area, so we'll drive to NYC. We're looking to simply relax and enjoy good meals in the MDR. We're booked in a mid ship balcony so we have easy access to the MDR, the Garden Cafe, and the adults only sun deck of H2O. However, I did place a few bids for an upgrade to the Haven. It would be great to spend a week in the Haven and avoid 4000 other passengers. My wife has never been on a 4000 passenger ship. I once was on the Getaway and I learned how to avoid the crowds by using the corridors for getting from bow/aft, eating breakfast and lunch in Savor, early dinner in MDR, sunning at H2O, or relaxing during the day on the Waterfront deck. Anyway, it's up to each person to make the best of a cruise, no matter what ship you're on, or which cabin.

MudbugsTherapist Posted February 22, 2017 #24 Share Posted February 22, 2017 I am also going on the March 19 Breakaway to Port Canaveral/GSC/Nassau. We loved the Gem, we liked the Jade, and now we are trying the Breakaway. I am not a party-late night-noise-crowds person, so I am carefully researching and planning on how to avoid all of that. I cruise to relax, not to party. I don't want to go back to work exhausted and hungover. Honestly, as long as I have a book, a balcony, and a glass of champagne? The rest of the ship can do whatever they want.
