Question about Seattle Transportation to Airport

Does HAL sell bus transfers to airport onboard the ship? Or are there a lot of cabs waiting for passenger when disembarking? (We have 12:30 pm flights out of Seattle, which should give us enough time.) Thank you!

You can add a transfer to and from the airport right from HAL. Just call and ask them to add it to your reservation. I believe it's $29pp each way.

The only problem with HAL's bus transfers -- you have to wait until the bus is completely filled before it heads to the airport -- and sometimes that can take a while.

We use AlreadyThereTownCar limo service. Costs just a few dollars more and you go in luxury.

We use Already There every time we're in Seattle. Outstanding service!! Charlotte makes sure all connections work from the time your plane lands, your luggage is retrieved, your ready for a ride the next day from your hotel to the ship and then she makes sure the car is there when you disembark the ship. Rates are reasonable and the service has always been absolutely reliable!

If you book a HAL transfer in advance, the money spent is treated as part of your fare. If you book it on board the ship, the price counts toward Mariner Days status. If you're close to a new Mariner * status, or working diligently toward one, that could matter to you.

Busses don't take long to load, especially if you're not racing to be the first one aboard ;), but they also don't leave you immediately in front of the terminal doors. If walking is a problem, especially with suitcases, that could be a consideration.

Another vote for Already There. They will be parked near the terminal and will pick you up within 10 minutes (heavy traffic at the terminal) away from the taxi waiting area as soon as you call them. They can drop you off at your airport gate so you won't have to walk.

Based on my personal experience (as we have done it both ways), Msrigby is correct on this - it doesn't matter whether you book transfers in advance or book them on board. You will receive the same Mariner "spend credit". However, if you book transfers on board, you will "save" the opportunity cost by not giving HAL free use of your money for weeks/months ...

My sis, my travel agent too, always arranges a private transfer usually with a city tour quickie. It usually is very affordable .

As usual, Ruth makes a good point about the drop off area. In our case, Alaska Airlines did not have curbside luggage checkin, a little extra inconvenience.

The distance between Smith Cove Terminal and SeaTac airport is 30 miles. I believe charge would be around $60, give or take, depending upon traffic.

We used Seattle Express http://www.seattleexpress.com and were very pleased. They use vans rather than buses and fill up quickly to get you on your way. Best of all, cost from cruise port to airport is only $15 per person one way. They also do round-trip transfers from airport to cruise port and back after the cruise for a nominal charge.

The taxi queue can be quite long. There is no waiting for Already There Towncar. Their $72/hour charge was worth the extra convenience and stopping at the airline curbside baggage check-in.
