martyap Posted March 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2017 Just booked five Central Park balcony cabins on the Allure. Understand they each come with a bottle of red wine, a lesson on how to be a gracious loser in the casino and a specialty restaurant lunch. Two of the cabins are for teenagers who do not drink red wine or want to play blackjack. Are there substitute options for them? Who would I contact? Ken at the beach Posted March 17, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2017 What you are allowed to switch (if anything) will most likely vary by ship and even on the same ship depending on whom that you talk to. The one thing for certain is that no changes can be done ahead of time. You need to speak with guest services once on board.

Does that mean they will simply leave a bottle of red wine in the Central Park balcony stateroom of two, fourteen year old minors?
Rare SpainAlien Posted March 17, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2017 I didn't think that two 14 year olds were allowed to have a stateroom on their own. I thought there had to be an adult in each cabin. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
jll583 Posted March 18, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 18, 2017 We tried to get ours switched to the soda package instead of the wine, casino ect like perks the boardwalk balconies have offered. It was a resounding NO. We may or may not have asked more than once. [emoji3] We have now switched to an ocean balcony which has no perks. martyap Posted March 18, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted March 18, 2017 I booked over the phone and of course gave their birth dates. There was no discussion of any restrictions and of course no suggestions to the wine perks question. A cheap bottle of red probably costs $5 bucks so I really don't care.......just a stupid offering for a room with kids. I believe Boardwalk balcony cabins offers soda, not CP. S.S.Oceanlover Posted March 18, 2017 #11 Share Posted March 18, 2017 Teens are not allowed in a room by themselves. This does not seem to be the correct answer. Bill
martyap Posted March 18, 2017 Author #12 Share Posted March 18, 2017 As I said, I booked on the phone, got adjoining balcony rooms for parents and teens and the representative was given the ages of the children. He then told me that each cabin gets a bottle of red wine, a casino lesson and a complimentary specialty restaurant lunch. When I questioned why RCCL would want to offer those perks to children he suggested I request a substitute on board. Don't know why this can't be simple. CanobieFan Posted March 18, 2017 #13 Share Posted March 18, 2017 We tried to get ours switched to the soda package instead of the wine, casino ect like perks the boardwalk balconies have offered. It was a resounding NO. We may or may not have asked more than once. [emoji3] When I was on Harmony back in January, we had a Central Park room and they let both me and my friend switch the wine for the soda package and it was done no problem. They even left the bottle of wine in our room even though I don't drink and my friend never open to the bottle. No surcharge was added. (And she took the wine home) so I guess it's who you ask or how you go about doing it (although I don't even drink soda, it was nice to have a bigger cup when I wanted Dasani raspberry lime water)
phabric Posted March 18, 2017 #14 Share Posted March 18, 2017 I booked a Central Park balcony cabin with the same perks. I am a solo passenger and do not drink wine. I asked my agent if I could switch to the soda package and would I get 2 lunches. I was told I would have to ask while I was on the ship. From what I read here the wine is in your cabin? For the lunch, do you get a voucher or is it on your sail card and they take the amount off?
CanobieFan Posted March 18, 2017 #15 Share Posted March 18, 2017 When we made the booking for Harmony we were on Vision and asked about the soda then and there, since I don't drink and my friend didn't care either way. We were told it would be no problem... A few months later when we checked into our room on Harmony, the bottle of wine was already above the refrigerator so we just went down to the information desk and asked / told our Vision story and they just handed us the cups no questions, no fee. davelliott Posted March 18, 2017 #16 Share Posted March 18, 2017 For anyone wondering about vouchers, I was just on Harmony last week and can tell you about my experience. There was a paper in the cabin when we arrived that detailed the benefits of the Eat, Drink, Play promotion. There were no vouchers, just this paper. We entered the cabin exactly at 1:00 PM and someone knocked on the door about 10 minutes later with the bottle of wine. When I stopped by Jamie's Italian to request a reservation, they put in my cabin number and knew that it was included with my Central Park Balcony. They made the lunch reservation for the next day and verified that it was a no-charge lunch. When we got there for lunch, they provided a special, small menu that only had two or three choices of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. They told me that they used a limited menu for the Eat, Drink, Play cabins.

Did you just keep the wine or was you able to exchange it for the soda package instead?
davelliott Posted March 20, 2017 #18 Share Posted March 20, 2017 From what was on the paper in my cabin, the only option for the free lunch is Jamie's. As for the wine, I just kept it and brought it home. I gave it to a co-worker who drinks wine. I don't like wine and had no intention of opening it. I never asked anyone about exchanging it as I never thought that would be possible. Sent from my LG-H810 using Forums mobile app

I have the kids booked in their own room on 6 future reservations and have had them booked in their own room on many cruises over the last 4 years. Unfortunately Royals website is wrong. Sent from my iPad using Forums It can be simple just;)follow the suggestion of the rep, ask on board. You've been on the boards for a long time and know is never consistent from cruise to cruise...ship to ship..... the wonderful world of cruising, it is known as flexibility and inconsistency.:D especially with RCI and posters experiences. I believe they would give the wine to every cabin in the CAT, because the kids did not book the cabin an adult did, who can drink. How about adults that do not drink and gamble shouldn't they be able to sub.....it goes on and on....Its a perk with that CAT ...simple.
