Embl Posted March 24, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2017 Does anyone know where the policy is located on line? I'm trying to find out about gratuities and taking alcohol on board. I could only fine one that said, 'no alcohol' but I thought that had changed. Thanks
Rare Sparky74 Posted March 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2017 There is a link in the bottom right corner of RCI Australia's web page. http://www.royalcaribbean.com.au/contentPage.do?pagename=terms_and_conditions_australia
cathiecatt Posted March 24, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2017 Good info [emoji5] I was aware you could take two bottles of wine/champagne - I didn't know there was a $25 USD fee for corkage if you have it in a restaurant. Good to know thanks! Sent from my iPad using Forums

AussieVisi2r Posted March 25, 2017 #7 Share Posted March 25, 2017 The corkage fee was dropped nearly three years ago. The web site will reflect that some time int eh next few years. :D And as said above - two bottles per stateroom. Raina
Rare lyndarra Posted December 17, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 17, 2017 We disembarked Ovation OTS yesterday. Our third RCI cruise in two years. The previous two cruises were on Radiance OTS. On each cruise we have taken two bottles of wine on board. They were consumed at dinner in the MDR. On Ovation we were travelling with a friend couple who also brought two bottles. By about the 5th night we had already consumed three bottles in My Time Dining and we were at a different table each night so we had different wait staff. On the the night of the fourth bottle we were informed, politely, by our waiter that there would be a $25 corkage charge! We almost fell off our chairs. We have never been charged corkage by RCI even on the previous nights, and corkage had never been mentioned by any waiters, ever. We disputed the charge and the waiter said he had been instructed by his supervisor that corkage should be applied. We asked for the supervisor who came to our table and she confirmed what the waiter had told us, in addition saying that previously there was no corkage applicable but that had been changed two years ago. What? My somewhat hazy memory of corkage was that it was dropped about two years ago. Anyhow we were given a warning and the wine was served without charge. Does anyone recall any change in RCI policy? I may check the RCI website when I get a moment but such sites are notoriously out of date.

Thanks for your post Lyndarra, we are on the Ovation in 4 weeks. We were going to take a couple of bottles but as we dont drink wine in our cabin probably won't. $25 is crazy for corkage....that is USD as well isnt it? We may just have our first alcohol free cruise;p We have never just had water with our dinner, but by the looks of Royals drink prices, now corkage and then converting it all to AUD, it gets expensive. I guess the push is on the beverage packages:rolleyes:

Rare lyndarra Posted December 18, 2017 #14 Share Posted December 18, 2017 On a side note. The cabin fridge does keep drinks quite cold, coldest we've come across. They are also lockable with a code number just like a cabin safe.

newbie1955 Posted December 18, 2017 #17 Share Posted December 18, 2017 Hi All, Below is the reply to a query I made in June this year regarding corkage fees. I also got a (sort of ) confirmation that there is no corkage fee if consumed in your cabin or on a balcony. I figure I'll just ask for wine glasses and take my own wine with me by the glass as I leave the cabin. "Thank you for contacting the Reservations department. We appreciate you have chosen us as your next holiday cruise company. In regards to your query, As of June 1, 2017 guests who consume personal bottles of wine or champagne in public areas, will incur a $15 corkage fee per bottle. Should you have further queries, do not hesitate to contact us. I think corkage is back at $15 per bottle, there was a thread about it on the main RCI boards - I haven't tested the theory yet though.

Embl Posted December 28, 2017 Author #24 Share Posted December 28, 2017 Need some big glasses to fit a whole bottle into two :p Be really posh and use your RCI soft drink cups. They'll hold a whole bottle between the 2 of them. Always a good look on the dinner table :')
