Rare CanadianBurger Posted April 10, 2017 Author #101 Share Posted April 10, 2017 We had afternoon tea (which was wonderful) and went to trivia (second place), then realized I had got a bit of a sunburn this afternoon. Still going to inquire further about the AIBP and Leaves. Here's the menu board nonetheless: Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare CanadianBurger Posted April 10, 2017 Author #102 Share Posted April 10, 2017 (edited) I had missed commenting earlier that our sailaway from Civitavecchia was the most anti-climactic sailaway I had ever experienced. No Love Boat horn, not even a navigational horn blast. Silence. If you weren't looking outside, you wouldn't have even known we'd left. I don't know exactly what I was expecting, but at least some kind of fanfare for sailaway on the maiden 7-day. I know Tuscany had put on a show the week before, so I was hoping for something. Captain Sagani had his finger on the Love Boat horn today leaving Livorno though. There was a fantastic echo from the hills in the distance which I captured on video, and will upload once I have capable internet. Other musings: the elevators only announce the deck numbers, not the names. I miss the sing-song "Lee-doh", so much to the chagrin of my wife, I've begun doing it myself. Veteran Princess cruisers smile and chuckle, first timers look at me like I'm crazy... Someone mentioned last week that the door name tags were all the same. This week they're the regular Princess ones with Captain's Circle colors on them. Rare CanadianBurger Posted April 10, 2017 Author #103 Share Posted April 10, 2017 When we came back this afternoon there was a card in the mail slot indicating a dinner table change. What a difference a day makes for dinner. We had been moved to a table for eight with wonderful people from the UK. More importantly, our new headwaiter, Salvatore, and his staff, were far better, the food was much better, and overall things were back to normal for what we expected. Dinner is a big part of the cruise experience for us, both for socializing and the meal itself. When we enjoy dinner, we're much happier overall. Here is tomorrow's Patter. Looking forward to Monte Carlo! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Mibele Posted April 10, 2017 #104 Share Posted April 10, 2017 How did you get a picture of the Sistine Chapel? All I remember of that place was the people walking around saying SHHHHHHHHH and No Pictures Allowed! :-) Sistine Chapel
IECalCruiser Posted April 10, 2017 #105 Share Posted April 10, 2017 Perfect! Thank you for that info. I'm assuming that they tack on the gratuity to that purchase (X does- which I find fault with as the Persian Garden- their Enclave- is self service.) so I'll plan for $25 a day just in case. I'm interested in knowing this as well. Might tip me towards a package. Hadn't planned it on this sailing.... No added gratuity. sidari Posted April 11, 2017 #110 Share Posted April 11, 2017 "Someone mentioned last week that the door name tags were all the same. The name tags had the colours on them last week ... :D As we were leaving Kotor last Thursday the Love boat theme was played, and again as we sailed out between the tall hills and mountains which made it echo for a while and sounded great. TheSmashingCruiser Posted April 11, 2017 #115 Share Posted April 11, 2017 CanadianBurger I'm loving this LIVE report... it's getting me so excited for my cruise on Majestic this weekend. Please could I ask you a question? Can you plug a HDMI or USB into the TV screen? I might want to look at pictures, movies etc. whilst onboard. Don't worry if you can't find the answer... concentrate on enjoying your cruise :p

I suspect the controls are locked out similar to some hotel TVs. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare CanadianBurger Posted April 11, 2017 Author #119 Share Posted April 11, 2017 First, some good news: I had another chat with passenger services tonight, and by this afternoon enough people had complained, so the tea bar and juice bar ARE NOW INCLUDED IN THE AIBP. Staff at the venues were notified late this afternoon. Passengers can change policies! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare CanadianBurger Posted April 11, 2017 Author #120 Share Posted April 11, 2017 Beautiful day in Monaco. We wandered on our own, visited the palace, watched the changing of the Guard, toured the Prince's Car Collection (wow), and visited the lobby of the casino. We're big F1 fans, so we walked most of the Grand Prix circuit. Casino Lobby The famous hairpin turn on the Grand Prix circuit I've got lots more from dinner and the shops, but posting will have to wait until tomorrow. Have to get up early for Toulon. We're taking the TGV to Marseille and going on a walking tour of the old city. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Cruisingisthebestfun Posted April 11, 2017 #121 Share Posted April 11, 2017 Thank you for the great Live Threads on the Majestic. One question I have, since there is no ice cream parlor (gelato) on the Majestic Princess, does this mean the coffee card is only good for specialty coffee or tea and nothing else? Thanks! Staff at the venues were notified late this afternoon. Passengers can change policies! Sent from my iPhone using Forums This is great news! I hope they don't change their mind by May! I'm not a huge enough tea fan to buy any onboard, but I sure would like to try it and see if I like it. You never know, I might be converted! I echo the other posters...especially those of us boarding for the 2 month Med season...THANK YOU SO MUCH for this live report (and Dides who posted on the maiden voyage). It really helps for expectations on a new ship, especially with changes for the Asian market of what will or won't be onboard. We are "go with the flow" type of people and do like new experiences so I wasn't too worried, but it's nice to know in advance. It takes a moving a mountain to get my DH on a plane overseas so I want to make sure to temper any expectations that shouldn't be there. lol
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted April 12, 2017 #125 Share Posted April 12, 2017 Thanks for the great review. Since Princess have just announced that Majestic will be coming to Australia in September 2018, I'm curious to know how the bars work for pre- and post-dinner drinks. With no Crooners on deck 7 it could get very crowded in the other bars. How much seating is there around the Bellini Bar? Would you be able to post a wider shot photo of that area, please?
