Question about Uniworld "Super Ships"

For past cruisers on the Maria Theresa, Antionette or Catherine, especially for anyone who stayed in a Category 3 stateroom: Is there any great disadvantage to staying at the very back or close to the reception area on deck 2? Because the square footage of the Category 2 and 3 staterooms is the same, I think a Category 3 would be fine, but DH thinks Category 2 must be better for some reason. We would like to book the 2018 Christmas to New Year cruise on the Maria Theresa.

We just got back from sailing on the Antoinette. We were in room 332, the very last cabin. No disadvantage. In fact, we thought it was a great location. The fitness center, with an ice machine, was right next to us. The pool, and extra bathroom/shower, was one floor up (the rear stairs were adjacent to our cabin) and the Leopard Lounge was 2 floors up. It was also easy to get to the sun deck through the pool area.

I don't know that I would like one of the forward rooms, due to their proximity to the lobby. We loved our location!

Thanks, Robin. We were wondering about any vibration in the stern area, which apparently wasn't a problem for you, and noise from the forward staterooms. We have been more mid-ship on past cruises, including on the beautiful Antoinette.

We were in 303 on the SS Catherine last year and loved the cabin. The category 3 cabins are identical to the category 2 but are located at either end of the corridor. We had absolutely no problem with that - in fact I was using a cane for that trip (when I made the reservation I wasn't) so I really appreciated being close to reception and the elevator. There was no noticeable noise from the reception area. Another of our party was in a category 3 cabin at the end of the hall and had absolutely no issues. That was our 3rd Uniworld cruise, 4th Uniworld ship (the August 2015 cruise involved a ship transfer due to low water), and first super ship and we all loved the layout and facilities not to mention the (as usual) attentive staff.

I agree with Capriccio. I had 304 on the Catherine and friends were in 303 and 305. It was so handy for our very frequent trips to the coffee machines, bar and front desk. There was no disturbance at all from the reception area. Other friends were in the aft area and had to do a great deal more walking to get to food and beverage.

I'm late chiming in, but these are our favorite rooms. We've been in 304 on several cruises now. We love the proximity to the dining room, main lounge and easy access on & off. The ships aren't big, the cost savings is worth it and we actually prefer these rooms. Our first cruise we also thought the "middle of the ship" must be better... but not at all.
