I will Stop Cruising if....

Our last 2 cruise, both B2B we had the same server with YTD for the entire cruise. After the second day, the hostess knew our preference and escorted us to his station the rest of the cruise

I did the same as well on my last B2B on NCL. Luckily I had met our waitress several months earlier on the same ship so we knew she would be there and where she worked. Chances of that happening again are next to nothing. But that is just one of many reasons I try to never sail NCL. Love the other lines I've sailed but Carnival gives the best bang for the buck to me.

I am really surprised by the YTD hate. My family LOVES it. We have never waited more than 5 minutes for a table. IF THAT. We have gotten the same server every night. Maybe it is just the time that we go but we really love it.

I've NEVER waited for a table. Not even 5 minutes. ;)

Not ready to quit, yet, but cutbacks are starting to wear. Like table cloths - sounds petty, but I had to chase my plate all over the table whilst cutting my entree. Does anybody think Carnival really cares what we complain about? Has anything ever been reversed because it was so unpopular?

I hate not having a tablecloth as well. It just seems to amp the noise and clatter up exponentially in the dining room. However, if enough people complain, I still think it can be changed. Carnival cruisers screamed about the loss of shrimp cocktail and they brought it back. Carnival cruisers complained about the lack of live music on the ship, and it too is being brought back. Hope springs eternal. :)

Just out of curiosity, do you use tablecloths at home?

I will stop cruising when the seas dry up!

All this other nonsense about different things disappearing, such as table cloths, is just that. Nonsense. I will never stop cruising! It is the most economical, relaxing, enjoyable vacation, and a way to see other parts of the works easily. 😎

I won't ever stop cruising but I will stop cursing Carnival if they lower their dress code standards below the current cruise casual or they cease to attempt to enforce it.

There seems to be the growing theme on this board from a group that seems to feel that it is their cruise, they paid for it and that magically makes them exempt from the rules, even if that involves common decency. A robe does not belong in the MDR - even at breakfast. And men in tank tops and sweaty baseball caps have no place outside the Lido our outside decks at anytime - I do not want your armpit hair wafting over my food, thanks.

Hope this doesn't come across as sounding self centered (well not too much :o). We have enjoyed other vacations like Nascar races' date=' following the Cubs, amusement parks, etc. So, when we started cruising in 2000, the one thing that I really enjoyed was that when we were on a cruise -we could be as busy or laid back as we wanted and that we were being "pampered". It just seemed like the staff was happier, the room stewards were always greeting us in the hallway, you had to tell multiple drink staff "no thank-you" instead of searching them out, the fussy re-arranging of silverware between courses, having free champagne one evening in the MDR, free cappuccino in the MDR every night, seemed like a lot more parties with free drinks. I think that to keep the prices more affordable, there have been too many cuts. I feel like I have to apologize whenever I make a request from my room steward or dining staff. I liked it better when there was more staff so you didn't feel guilty making simple requests.

I would try another cruise line first but - I would stop cruising altogether if I continue to feel like instead of being "pampered" on my vacation - I am made to feel like I am a burden to the cruise staff.[/quote']

I totally agree. I used to tell all my patients that the one reason I started cruising is because i was treated like royalty. now with all the changes you are treated well but the magic of feeling special has disappeared. I know its not the staffs fault that the company has cut back and they now have twice as many rooms to clean. But it does take away from the uniquiness

Carnival already made the one change that made us stop cruising with them. That was the introduction of the Playlist Productions "entertainment". We enjoy the live performances on ships and cannot stand the sub-par shows that have become the norm. The days of the live band/orchestra, singers and dancers with talent are gone on CCL.

We sailed twice after these changes and sat through a number of "performances" until we finally said "no more".

We generally like the rest that Carnival has to offer but feel our cruise vacation dollars are better spent elsewhere now.

when people ask me what i like better royal or carnival I alway say it depends on what I want on that cruise . If im going for the shows It would not be on carnival. We went on breeze a few months ago and I went to one show. It was so bad alot of people were walking out on it i and i soon followed. There was one character on stage that no one really knew what they were or what thier purpose was. some thought ghost, zombie, orchestra maestro, film director....... This character distracted so much from everything else that was going on that you could not enjoy the show. at one point they had someone dressed in black with capes butterfly fairies and a dark faerie ( like maleficent) for the movie song dirty dancing. it was so out of touch.

I believe that was "Flick". When I was posting from the Vista, I said the same thing. Why was this guy there? He brought nothing but distraction to the scenes. Also the themes up on the electronic boards had absolutely nothing to do with the songs. It was so bizarre that I didn't bother seeing any other shows. When we first started cruising Carnival we loved the Vegas style shows. I'm sorry but Playlist is crap. I know things evolve and change, but this is just sad. I don't know how people can honestly like the new stuff.

We enjoyed Flick. It was something new and different. And yes it was modern but well done.

The only part of it I liked was when the one girl sang Whitney Houston. Other than that I didn't care for it at all. It just didn't make sense to me. Especially that creepy guy. But no problem, I just free up another seat for those that do like the new shows. I find it a little depressing, though, as we would always go to dinner and then see the show. Now, not so much.

We tend to see the shows once, twice max and are fortunate enough to cruise frequently enough that the same shows are stilling running. More often than not you will find us taking advantage of the comedy club and now that the piano bar is smoke free, that venue as well. Those are always unique to each cruise. We can also happily plant ourselves in Alchemy!

Yeah, me too. After seeing a couple new shows I don't even bother. As far as Hasbro, been there, done that, won't make that mistake again. I can't wait to get back on Celebrity for some real entertainment.

Heck, I never like the old stuff either. That's why I love MUTS (Seaside Theater, etc.....use your name of choice). Much more comfortable, have nice breeze usually, and enjoy watching movies. I just wish they would play the original Posiden Adventure once. That would be awesome to see on a ship. :)

Yes it would! Glad my cabin of choice is on Deck 1 :D
