skymaster---I believe NCL Freestyle Cruising is like Carnival's My Time Dining, and if so, what is wrong with that? We found the Freestyle philosophy on NCL much preferable to the set dining times that restrict and tie you to a certain time of dining every night. We found it extremely enjoyable, and less stressful. No need to rush back to room to get ready if you wanted to do something late afternoon or early evening. I found it very freeing!!

Because you have a different wait team every night which makes service hit or miss. And I found it funny that even though you are free to go when you want, almost everyone goes at the same time causing lines. I prefer to have the same table, tablemates, and wait team every night.

One simple way to get Great Service EVERY Cruise. TIP THEM. 10 min on the ship go to your room find the steward and give them a $20 we have been cruising for 15 years twice a year and have never had to ask for Anything.

Fine the Bar you'll be at most of the cruise either the pool, casino, club and TIP the Bartender 1st drink in you'll never wait for another drink. I garrentee you they will have your drink being made before you can ask.

With all the money you'll waste on Stuff. Those 2 tips will make your cruise enjoyable.

Try it and when you get back you'll say to yourself..wow I never had to ask for anything.

Actually, you mean OVER TIP them. They already get tipped via the tip pool and the 15% autotip on drinks. ;)

There's probably no one thing that would make me stop cruising (other than the Mrs. saying we're not cruising anymore).

It will probably be when we get to the point where we're tired of the itineraries, the ships, the crowds, etc.

We used to own a RV before we started cruising. Had many cool family trips in that thing and saw some really cool places in the US and Canada. But, we switched it up, sold the RV, and started cruising.

After awhile, we'll probably stop cruising and try something else (maybe).

Hope this doesn't come across as sounding self centered (well not too much :o). We have enjoyed other vacations like Nascar races' date=' following the Cubs, amusement parks, etc. So, when we started cruising in 2000, the one thing that I really enjoyed was that when we were on a cruise -we could be as busy or laid back as we wanted and that we were being "pampered". It just seemed like the staff was happier, the room stewards were always greeting us in the hallway, you had to tell multiple drink staff "no thank-you" instead of searching them out, the fussy re-arranging of silverware between courses, having free champagne one evening in the MDR, free cappuccino in the MDR every night, seemed like a lot more parties with free drinks. I think that to keep the prices more affordable, there have been too many cuts. I feel like I have to apologize whenever I make a request from my room steward or dining staff. I liked it better when there was more staff so you didn't feel guilty making simple requests.

I would try another cruise line first but - I would stop cruising altogether if I continue to feel like instead of being "pampered" on my vacation - I am made to feel like I am a burden to the cruise staff.[/quote']

I agree, there have been so many changes (cuts) on Carnival, it's nothing like it used to be. I used to be totally loyal to Carnival (longtime platinum).....Time for a change.

We have already stopped sailing RCCL they food is just toooo bad and for what we pay for the two of us to cruise for 10-14 days in a handicapped balcony stateroom we are NOT willing to eat such a low quality of food! Even RCCL specialty restaurants suck!

Wow! I'll admit, I don't always like their food choices, but to say I'd never sail them again is pretty harsh! I currently am loving everything about NCL, but I am not a cruise snob---I will cruise any cruise line if the ship looks good to me, and the price is right.

Our last 2 cruise, both B2B we had the same server with YTD for the entire cruise. After the second day, the hostess knew our preference and escorted us to his station the rest of the cruise

I am really surprised by the YTD hate. My family LOVES it. We have never waited more than 5 minutes for a table. IF THAT. We have gotten the same server every night. Maybe it is just the time that we go but we really love it.

I will stop when I am unable to cruise

I love cruising and traveling and do not plan to stop...Our first cruise was in 1984 and there were midnight buffets every night and main dining room seating for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On formal nights my husband and son wore tuxedos and my daughter and I wore formal gowns. Oh…and the cost…. more expensive than it is now!!! The cost did include airfare or we received $200 credit when we booked our own airfare. I am still loving it!

I will stop cruising the Carnival Cruise line if they keep trying to be the next Disney line. Adult only spots were one of the big reasons we went with Carnival for our first cruise experience. Take that away and for us there will be no upside for cruising with them.

I can say that Carnival has always been very good to me since I first sailed with them. To answer the OP's Question I think it would be because of Fellow Passengers. I have noticed a big change in the Demo's on the ships currently. I am seeing more Hostility, more conflict between people than I ever saw in the 1990's or 2000's. I saw my first fight on over 20 Cruises in Feb on the Breeze.

Althought I think Carnival Security has stepped it up in years, there still very poorly trained for a virtual city of 5000 people on some ships and I don't think that this problem (unruly Passengers) is going to go away for Carnival, as they are starting to attract different Demo's with Cruising becoming more attractive to different groups of people.

I am also seeing more of People that are in a large group thinking they are special because of the size of there Group. Its seemed differently back in the "Day" when I felt more of a "We are all in this together" kind of thinking. Anyway its my Fellow Passengers that will drive me off the boats not Carnival Itself.

After 20 years of cruising were done. I miss the good old days when everyone obeyed the rules. Now it's just a free for all. Seat saving, line cutting, people fighting, drunks everywhere.

I'll spend my money somewhere else. :loudcry:
