PuckStopper13 Posted April 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2017 Apologies if this has been brought up, but Princess is sailing the Caribbean in summer months now? I'm not sure how I missed it but that's awesome.
Selion Posted April 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2017 Not for 2017. Caribbean Princess will have cruises in the Caribbean in the summer of 2018.
CruiserBruce Posted April 20, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2017 A quick check of the Princess website shows they are not in 2017, but will be in 2018.
PuckStopper13 Posted April 20, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted April 20, 2017 Not for 2017. Caribbean Princess will have cruises in the Caribbean in the summer of 2018. Correct, I'll have to wait but that's fine. Selion Posted April 20, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 20, 2017 Went back to Princess's site and started digging. The press release for 2018 summer Caribbean cruises was announced in November last year: http://www.princess.com/news/news_releases/2016/11/Princess-Cruises-Resumes-Summer-Caribbean-Cruises-in-2018.html
GloriaF Posted April 20, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2017 Keep in mind that Hurricane Season is June 1 - Nov 30. Of course, the captain can change itinerary and often sail around storms. Still, something to be aware of.
fishywood Posted April 20, 2017 #7 Share Posted April 20, 2017 Princess is sailing the Caribbean in summer months now? I'm not sure how I missed it but that's awesome. Nothing new or revolutionary. In the early 2000s when demand for European cruises plunged Grand Princess remained in Port Everglades in the summer for several years. Then after Caribbean Princess was launched in 2004 that ship alternated summers in San Juan, Ft Lauderdale and Brooklyn through 2011 (first Summer in Europe not until 2012). Summers in Ft Lauderale since have been on a quadrennial cycle: Emerald in 2010, Caribbean in 2014 and now again in 2018. (And I could swear there was at least one other year that Emerald or Ruby did summer Caribbean. Or did a ship stay in Galveston all summer one of the years Princess was there )
Rare grouchomarx Posted April 20, 2017 #8 Share Posted April 20, 2017 Seems like all the other mainstream big cruise lines sail the Caribbean in the summer except Princess. I think it's good they're going to change that next year.
CruiserBruce Posted April 20, 2017 #9 Share Posted April 20, 2017 Guess HAL doesn't qualify as "mainstream, big" ( a good thing) as they won't be in the Caribbean in Summer 2017 or 2018.

Thrak Posted April 21, 2017 #11 Share Posted April 21, 2017 Not quite "summer" but really looking forward to our 14 day (true 14 day) Circle Caribbean on Caribbean Princess March 18 next year. First cruise on CB with the new Medallion system.
