PCWalton1 Posted May 2, 2017 Author #51 Share Posted May 2, 2017 We headed over to the Royal Hawaiian mall so Marie could get in some hula lessons. While she was dancing I snuck over to Starbucks for another iced coffee, this time Rwanda Abakundakawa (say that three times fast. PCWalton1 Posted May 2, 2017 Author #52 Share Posted May 2, 2017 After a lunch we headed back here to the hotel for some pool time for Marie and some beer and reading for me. That is my Longboard Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
travelgoddess1 Posted May 2, 2017 #53 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Aloha, This morning I hopped the number 13 bus over to Leonard's for some fresh malasadas. I bought a half dozen, 4 original and 2 custard. Enough for breakfast both today and tomorrow. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk I can taste the Malasada now. Totally worth it! :D

PCWalton1 Posted May 3, 2017 Author #56 Share Posted May 3, 2017 Used Uber to head over to Lulu's Waikiki. Great food, drinks and live music. Fish for both of us, salmon for Marie and ahi for me. Funkat Posted May 3, 2017 #57 Share Posted May 3, 2017 Once we board Radiance we will be staying in cabin 9092, a D1 balcony cabin just aft of the centrum elevators. A good central location with a deep balcony so hopefully with a lounge chair or two. I can't wait to see pics, especially of the cabin & balcony. We have 9078 on the 5/17 cruise out of Vancouver so it should be the same but mirrored. Kathy

PCWalton1 Posted May 3, 2017 Author #59 Share Posted May 3, 2017 We decided to walk the mile and a half back to the hotel as it was such a beautiful evening. Along the way we stopped for some music and hula as there was a show right on the beach. As we continued walking we did succumb to the inevitable and stopped at Honolulu Cookie Company. Gordo Posted May 3, 2017 #62 Share Posted May 3, 2017 What wonderful pictures of the Palace. Thank you for sharing this tour with us, and for doing another Live review. We won't be back to Hawaii until November 2018 (Having been born there, I always love going home), so for now I get to enjoy the beauty through your experience. Mahalo, and have a fantastic vacation! Love Lulu's -- was that your first time, or is it a repeat visit? We went to Lulu's I think in 2012 and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. They did not disappoint this time either Ah, those are sooooo good!! We bought two boxes to take home, one big box for us and a smaller one for the family. ;p

The palace was amazing though the history is sad. They take a lot of care to maintain it's condition, we even had to wear cloth booties over or shoes before going in. I thought you had booked ahead of time, do you still have to stand in line?
Rare bobmacliberty Posted May 3, 2017 #69 Share Posted May 3, 2017 The Arizona Memorial is one of the most emotionally impactful things I've ever done. Definitely should be on the list for any visit to Oahu. Loving your pictures/references to Kona Brewing. It just seems to taste better in Hawaii. Fire Rock is my favorite but is probably the most difficult to find around me.
PCWalton1 Posted May 4, 2017 Author #70 Share Posted May 4, 2017 How long did it take? I thought you had booked ahead of time, do you still have to stand in line? We arrived at 6:45 for 8:00 tickets. The gate opened at 7:00 and we were inside just few minutes later. Most of the people were in tour groups so they formed up on their guides, For those that purchased on their own there was a window with nobody in line so we got our tickets and audio guide boxes right way. We are back at the hotel and I will get to work on posting as soon as I cool down. It was a hot one today:eek:

PCWalton1 Posted May 4, 2017 Author #72 Share Posted May 4, 2017 Today we had the privilege to spend the morning at the Pearl Harbor memorial along with a visit to the USS Arizona. It was a very moving day that brought me to tears several times. I secured tickets for the Arizona at 8:00 online along with audio guides that we used thought the exhibits. The tree of life symbolizes the interconnectedness of all life on earth. There are many static displays that along with the audio guide give you a clear picture of what happened both before and during the attack. PCWalton1 Posted May 4, 2017 Author #75 Share Posted May 4, 2017 At ten minutes to 8 we went into the theater to watch a video of the attack with a substantial amount of actual film footage and narration with some of the survivors.
