Old Clunker, with propulsion issues. The opposition has one of there, 1 year old ships in Dry Dock in China with the same issues. Missing 2 cruises the Ovation of the seas. Ships do seem to have a lot of propulsion issues...

Plus, maintenance is ongoing 24/7 by the ship's engineers.

Drive your car 15 hours, every day, with only one visit to the mechanic in 5 years, and see how it fares. Fantasy is having electronic control issues with the power supply to the azipods, which are the same electronic controls that shafted propellers use on cruise ships. Most of these circuit boards and controls are not considered "wear items" that need periodic renewal.

Ovation has stated the repairs were necessary, but not urgent, and could have been anything including fishing line wrapped around the shaft seals causing oil leakage. This kind of thing can happen to any ship (not just cruise ships), anywhere in the world, and the Chinese coast is particularly noted for damages of this kind.

The Chinese coast ? They put a motor on anything that floats. :o

I just personally find that class of ship ugly and very dated looking.

Agreed. They are very dated but I feel the same way about Empress of the Seas and Majesty of the Seas. Cruise ships without balconies look ancient this day and time and those welded on balconies on some of these Fantasy class ships have to be the tackiest looking thing Ive ever seen. I know people love the Fantasy class. I loved Holiday class myself. You have to wonder how much longer these old ships will stay in the fleet though. They dont represent either brand very well at all anymore

The only Fantasy class with azipods are Paradise and Elation.

All is well. We are in the middle of the Gulf (across from st. Pete.) and doing 19 knots.

We are north of the tradewinds so we are fighting the winds from the west at 25 mph.

Would guess we will make Galveston on time....

:) But it could be worse. We are currently at 14 knots and almost to Cozumel. Will be a short stay - off the ship at noon and back on board at 5 then we head to Mobile with a sea day tomorrow.

This seems to be another electronic control issue - trying to get all the propulsion parts to talk nicely with one another.

I was on board three weeks ago when a similar issue occured and the techs got us back to top speed.

Hopefully they will do the same in the next few hours.

Did y'all get any incentives like we did before?

No incentives or anything - we just missed around 3 hours or so of port time. When the engine issues happened before 1am and our cabin was in the very back of the ship on Empress deck and the vibrations were so bad the woke most of us up. It was obvious something was seriously wrong.

But they did throw a huge Cinco de Mayo party on the Fantasy and were passing out tons of free drinks in the main lobby - everyone got at least 2 or 3 full size free drinks. Not sure if they do that on every ship.

We got back to Mobile a little early and they were able to start debarkation about a half hour early.
