I have 2 tips on the last day of your first leg go find your new cabin steward and introduce your self' date=' He will try and have your new cabin ready early.

Ask your first leg cabin steward for 3 boxes it makes it easier for you to put things into to move.[/quote']

Thank you :)

Thank you :)

If one is staying in the same cabin, (as we always did for all our b-to-b's), we have the same stewards for next cruise segment unless they happen to be going home for their vacation. W e never haddifferent stewards on our 2nd week but for illness or their vacation.

The drawers are interchangeble between cabins. Stewards will take filled drawers to your new cabin and return those emptry dawers to the cabin you are vacating . hanging clothes can be left in the closet. . They will put them on rolling racks and put them into your new closet. tHE only things you need to assemble for moving are things in your bathroom and on counter tops/ on shelves in the cabin. no need for boxes ;)Put those few things in an empty suitcase.

Please note - drawers are NOT interchangeable between cabins unless you are going to an identical cabin. I saw this amongst several changes on our last cruise, and definitely in our case from SS to Neptune - where we had fewer drawers. Prior to your move you will receive information from front office/concierge. There is a housekeeping team that does the moves.

Please don't mislead the OP. I speak from recent experience - and even if the drawers were same size, the number of drawers - given your insistence that the housekeeping team moves them intact - would leave the housekeeping team to decide what goes into which drawers where and what gets left out. I don't think so.

Kazu has already posted that she is aware that on the Prinsendam the drawers from one category cabin to another category cabin are not interchangeable.

Since she has sailed the Prinsendam, she is asking a valid question for her cruise.

Hi everyone,

I have searched and it looks pretty easy, but I want to make sure I am not "missing the boat".

DH and I are sailing next year (again ;)) but this time we are doing a B2B instead of a collectors on purpose.

We have decided that we want a certain cabin for the TA portion but once it gets port intensive we don't need it so we are switching cabins.

So, I am looking for advice.

I think I have gathered that the stewards will move the clothes that are hanging in the closet on the laundry thing they use to deliver laundry to the new room into the closets there.

I've seen some threads where they move the drawers but a CC friend said they had to pack theirs. I'm easy either way but it's kind of good to know what to expect.

Do we need to hang around with our stuff from our safety deposit box or will we get access to the room just to drop that stuff off?

I know I am going to have to let my stewards know and I will certainly "thank" them for their help.

Is there anything else I need to know or should do? I am trying to figure out how long we will need to wait (or if we need to) before we go to the port on the turnaround day.

We've never done this before.

If it's important, we are sailing on the Prinsendam.

Thanks so much :)

Kazu, I'm pressed for time, so I haven't read the other posts. We did a B2B and stayed in the same cabin. If you're moving down a category or up a category because of personal preference, my advice won't matter. Just wanted to let you know that you can stay in the same cabin even though it's not a collector's voyage. It sure makes things easier on you if you stay put. Hope my two cents worth helps.

Oh to be on Prinsendam again! I'm jealous. Have a lovely cruise.

When we changed cabins on Prinsendam last year (from OV to VS), all the furniture was different - we had to pack up everything except what was in the closets on hangers. By the time we finished breakfast it was all done! We picked up our new keycards from the Front Office and went to our new room.

We had met the occupants of our room-to-be, actually, they were on the roll call, and they told us they were disembarking early, so maybe that had something to do with it! They left us a little welcoming note.:)

Thanks Ann :) Sounds like it went very smoothly for you.

How nice to get the welcoming note too :)

I thought my opening post was clear, but Sail must have missed that we are changing categories by CHOICE. So, unless the first cabin stays empty & the upgrade fairy visits us, we won't be in the same cabin. When you haven't sailed on this ship, you can't assume since it is different than the other HAL ships.

You are both correct. The drawers are not interchangeable and, there will be more drawers in one cabin than the other. Thank you so much both for your input, clarification and help. I really appreciate it.

I am really glad I started this thread.

What a lot of great tips and help.

I thank you all for helping take the mystery away from what we are planning to do.

Thanks for all the great info and help, I think we will make out just fine (and, I can prepare DH for what the process will be ;) )

You are really smart to have started this thread. It's always better to go prepared.

I am, by nature a planner, sadly. I'd rather be prepared than caught by surprise ;)

The rules are not the same as FLL, thankfully.

I think it is US rather than FLL, we had same in New York on the Ocean Princess. Even though there were no excursions for turnaround passengers and we planned to stay on board (Brooklyn rather than Manhattan) we had to crocodile off with an escort, stand in line for half an hour while they found two missing passengers, be cleared by immigration and we then allowed to reboard. Other countries clear you on board I assume. We only had this problem in US.

you can stay in the same cabin even though it's not a collector's voyage.

Although this is true when booking, only if the cabin you want is available (not already booked) for both (all) segments. Jacqui has been booked for some time ,with two cabins for some reason, and at this late stage (not long to sail away) probably wont be able to find a suitable cabin free for both legs.

One reason for booking different cabins can be that on a TA the expense of a Balcony might not be worth it whereas if there are lots of ports and scenic cruising it might be worth the extra. Of course if you go for a suite for the other perks then you get a balcony usually anyway and the difference in the fact that there is only ocean to look at on the TA is less important.

My personality insisted I wait to get everything moved. You will have to wait until the new cabin is vacated by the previous quests. It didn't take too long, and we weren't going far off the ship. Everything went well. A small insignificant item I left behind in the old cabin, and didn't bother looking for, showed up a couple of days later in the new cabin.
