"LIVE" from Anthem of the Seas - Canada / NE - June 26, 2017

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon Radio,

What a beautiful balcony you have! We have a balcony just below the hump on our Anthem October cruise. Was wondering if yours is comparable to cabin 9660. So enjoy reading your posts. Fair winds and calm seas!!!

We have 11660 in September. Im looking forward to a bit of a larger balcony!

Hello everyone . . . It has been a busy day so far. This morninghas been Diamond Lounge, Seaplex, Casino Royale (Radio Friendly) and someshopping. This afternoon included a little Sorrento's, a Fashion Show, CasinoRoyale, and a little Solarium . . . I also went to the port and shopping talkfor Bar Harbor and Halifax. I even had time to watch a little news.

There are a lot of activities being held throughout the ship, but many passengers seem to be up on deck. For some reason the indoor pool hasbeen emptied. . . There are several lifeguards in the solarium, and main familypool. The live music being played (Caribbean style) outside is very good.

The weather outside was as predicted with only a few clouds andvery warm. My plans for dinner tonight is Chops Grill and I will be going tothe “Gift” in the main theater before the Groovy Night 70’s Dance party in theMusic Hall later tonight.

Here are a few pics from today . . . Thanks for tuning in. . .

Loving your review and pictures! Do you mine sharing what cabin number or what category your room is? Love that balcony!

Thought at first it was a D6, but the big balcony size looks like a D1. He said he's on deck 11.

Hello everyone. . .Welcome to DAY 3 of “LIVE” Anthem of the Seas.

We have arrived in Bar Harbor, Maine. We could see land since about 5AM. The Pilot boarded around 5:30AM, and we anchored by around 6:15. The tender operation started by 7:15.

I like the way Anthem is using very large commercial vessels as tenders. These vessels mounted 2 gangways to the side of the ship (FWD and MID STB) These gangways will help to get all passengers to the tenders safely.

I plan to go ashore around 9AM. . .I have no excursions planned but will explore the quaint city of Bar Harbor. There are lots of shops, eateries and cafés in just a few blocks.

The weather forecast is for sunny skies, and the temps should be around 68F. Here are a few pics from our arrival.

Thanks for tuning in. . .

RCCL is taking this Lifeguard thing very seriously it appears, which is good but it seems extreme to have 2 lifeguards on just that one small pool. As a former college/summer job lifeguard that pool is not big enough to warrant 2 lifeguards. Now, I do realize it's better to have too many than none at all but really this just seems like overkill to me. Better safe than sorry I suppose!

Hi Radio,

Two Lifeguards is not overkill. It can be very difficult to see a person especially a child lying on the bottom of the pool. It's even harder when the pool is crowded or the person goes under close to the wall where the guard is standing. A rocking ship also adds to the challenge. It's best to spot a person in trouble before they go under but sometimes they just slip under un-noticed.

It's always good to have more eyes on the pool and a big help to have another guard when someone's in trouble to clear to pool or assist.

On a brighter note as usual I am really enjoying your post.

It wasn't Radio that posted that comment, it was me...I just quoted his photo. I do see your point and agree. It guess I'm just used to not seeing any on the ships.

Sorry to both you and Radio,

I was just scanning down and didn't notice it was a re-post. I'm blaming it on the change of the re-posted boarders or maybe just old age.

Once they add Lifeguards it is no longer "At your own risk" and much more liability is brought on to the cruise line. If something happens when there is lifeguards on duty the negligence factor increases. Plus once Lifeguards are used a lot of parents watch their own children a lot less or not at all.

Hello everyone . . . I am back on the ship from a wonderful day in Bar Harbor. I finally left the ship this morning at about 9:30AM. The ride to the tender pier ashore was only about 5 minutes long, but it took awhile to get everyone off of the tender. I was told each tender holds about 350 passengers, so we were all a little ”shoulder friendly”.

I am sure that the merchants of Bar Harbor are very happy when the Cruise Ships come into town as the streets of Bar Harbor were packed with customers. . .I know that BH gets a lot of tourists, but simple weekday traffic must feel like a holiday for most merchants here.

We walked around town for a few hours while visiting a few shops and the locals here are very friendly. They all seemed very happy that we were there just for a few hours. I had a great lunch at Geddy’s Lobster House on Main St. in Bar Harbor. I had a delicious Lobster Roll and it really hit the spot. All of the lobsters served here were caught here and it tasted wonderful. I love also that Geddy's has one of the few "Live" Webcams for Bar Harbor.

We walked over to the Bar Harbor Inn to look around. It really is relaxing to just walk around and observe the scenery and nature that is part of this area. I think the next time I will get an excursion that visits Acadia National Park. I have heard a lot about how beautiful this area is.

I stayed ashore for about 4 hours, and I was ready for a little news watching when I cam back. Tonight I will dining at The Solarium Bistro, and I will try my luck again this evening in Casino Royale. I can’t stay up too late tonight as tomorrow we will call on the port of Halifax, Nova Scotia. I can already smell some freshly brewed Tim Horton’s coffee. Here are a few pics from today.

Thanks for all of the nice comments, and thanks for tuning in. . .
