cruising_knc Posted June 27, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 27, 2017 We're booked in a Grand Suite for a Baltic cruise on Vision in August and again on a Southern Caribbean cruise on Jewel next March. We've never been in a Grand Suite. Were booked in one on Jewel and got an up sell call for an owner's suite. It was nice. Suite guests had the option of being escorted off the ship in port, avoiding the need to wait in line. Reserved seating for the shows was nice. Enjoy your trip! George C Posted June 27, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 27, 2017 We did sister ship Brilliance, last September, had breakfast in specialty daily, concierge lounge was really nice for drinks at night (much nicer that other ships) also private area in WJ
Cigar King Posted June 27, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 27, 2017 It's a nice room. The extra space is really welcome. I think that most of the perks are meh. I do like being able to eat breakfast without having to go to the Windjammer. If you are not already D+, you can also get tours. I like the bridge tour myself. Enjoy your cruise. Surfguyxxx Posted June 27, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 27, 2017 We did a Grand Suite on a Transatlantic on year and I can tell you that you won't want anything else. Enjoy it all.
sellwingri Posted June 27, 2017 #9 Share Posted June 27, 2017 We started cruising in GS's about 8 cruises ago and haven't looked back. I love the size of the room and balcony and all the perks including treats that they often deliver (cheese plate, chocolate covered strawberries, etc). We feel like we're treated as special guests. The private breakfast is amazing! I like a Baileys and coffee at breakfast while cruising and they'd have it waiting for me. We slept in one morning and missed breakfast and when getting off the ship at a port, one of the waiters came up to us and said he was wondering where we were. That being said, we decided to bite the bullet to save some money and are in a JS on our next cruise in September but then back to GS for the next 4. cloud_nine Posted June 27, 2017 #10 Share Posted June 27, 2017 The new concierge lounge on Jewel is really nice! The views are incredible and it's a great space. We were in a GS on Jewel last August and used the concierge lounge much more than we used the windowless cl on Adventure. You'll have a great time! Dremac373 Posted June 27, 2017 #11 Share Posted June 27, 2017 From the looks of it from previous suite cruises, you should be expecting a wonderful time, enjoy
cb at sea Posted June 27, 2017 #12 Share Posted June 27, 2017 Just a "heads up" for those NOT in a suite...you don't have to go to the WJ for breakfast...the dining room is a lovely way to start the day! You don't have to "dress up" for breakfast or lunch in the dining room.
Cigar King Posted June 27, 2017 #13 Share Posted June 27, 2017 It has not been available every day on the cruises I have been on. I also used to enjoy the diamond breakfast, but,. it has not been available on my recent cruises.

Cigar King Posted June 28, 2017 #17 Share Posted June 28, 2017 This is one of the nice things about being in a suite. I don't mind paying for things, but, I HATE to be nickled and dimed. In a suite, you have less of this. Same goes for flying...first class means no fees.

I also used to enjoy the diamond breakfast, but,. it has not been available on my recent cruises. Would you please clarify what you mean by diamond breakfast? There's usually an area in the MDR just for diamond members but it's the same menu as everyone else has. The diamond lounge has a continental breakfast every morning but I don't think that's what you're referring to.

vavasmom Posted February 11, 2018 #22 Share Posted February 11, 2018 One of favorite perks is being able to order the dining room food into the room when the dining room is open. It all comes at one time but eating on the balcony or in the room during a sail away or after a long port day can be very nice
oneputt18 Posted February 11, 2018 #23 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Grand Suites have bath tubs that can be a challenge to get in and out of.
Rare Lionesss Posted February 11, 2018 #24 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Ten years ago, we booked our first grand suite on the Mariner of the Seas out of Port Canaveral. We figured go for the gusto, since we would probably never cruise again. Now 10 years later (Diamond), sailing in only Grand Suites or Crown Loft, we are addicted to the cabins. Welcome to the Grand Suite experience. Enjoy
