subtchr Posted June 29, 2017 #26 Share Posted June 29, 2017 Disney still mails out the old fashioned type of luggage tags, the self-stick kind that you just loop around the suitcase handle and seal. They also still mail out hard copy cruise documents. Thanks for the info! As for me, I'd rather print my own and pay RC prices instead of Disney. ;)
Midwest Sunseeker Posted June 29, 2017 #27 Share Posted June 29, 2017 We do the printing on card stock and cover with packaging tape. This way we cut away the fold over. We carry a extra small stapler. FYI on one cruise the porters only attached the plain tags. This got the luggage to the ship only. Ship personnel had to read personal Id tags and look up cabin #. For luggage without outside tags they looked inside. Without inside id they waited for the people to come looking for it. We heard people complaining at the end of this long cruise of how this spoiled their cruise. We just laughed because our luggage was lost by the airline and never did catch up to us. We had a great cruise. Part of enjoying yourself is not sweating the small stuff. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare island lady Posted June 29, 2017 #28 Share Posted June 29, 2017 Maybe we now have good folders and not so good folders?? Folded properly, they fit fine in plastic tags that have been listed on this site but cutting out instead is probably a better way. Sent from my iPhone using Forums What Bob and I are saying...is we cut out the waste. I use the excess as note paper. ;)
Rare island lady Posted June 29, 2017 #29 Share Posted June 29, 2017 I do all the folds! Want to make that paper as thick as possible and completely cover it with packing tape, front and back. :D I have a bugaboo about luggage tags and not receiving my luggage. Hence the extra tags on each case. I even put them on my carry ons in case they somehow get separated from me. I can never fully relax and truly start my cruise until I see all my cases at my cabin door! Mary Ann I use two luggage tags (plastic sleeves with those tough zip ties attached). One on the side...one on the top. After seeing several ripped off tags laying in the hallway one disembarkation day....that prompted the dual tag style for me. ;)
Rare island lady Posted June 29, 2017 #30 Share Posted June 29, 2017 Do you recycle all that paper? Sent from my iPhone using Forums I do. I cut out the totally not needed excess off the strips and use them as note paper for the trip. :D
Rare island lady Posted June 29, 2017 #31 Share Posted June 29, 2017 and do not include a Casino. That's one of the reasons they are so expensive. ;) No money made from gamblers. ;p

actuarian Posted July 2, 2017 #37 Share Posted July 2, 2017 From my experience, Disney Cruise Lines are a lot more expensive and do not include a Casino. All true but not relevant to the question I answered: "Do other cruise lines have non-crappy luggage tags?". Disney is a lot more expensive and does not have casinos and has non-crappy luggage tags. IMHO, Disney also has better food in its main dining room and (especially) its buffet and spends more on entertainment (and luggage tags!). Nevertheless, if you don't mind crappy luggage tags, Royal Caribbean gives you more for the money.

woldig120 Posted July 3, 2017 #39 Share Posted July 3, 2017 When I get the paper luggage tag, I cut it and then copy it four times onto an A4 sheet. I then laminate the sheet and cut the labels. This means I now have eight laminated labels. Punch a hole in one end and tie it to the case handle. Very difficult to pull off and it will withstand water. Have never lost one yet and we have been cruising for many years. If we are flying, only put them on when we have left the airport before we board. We are from the UK and have sailed from ports in USA many times.
dolfansam Posted October 5, 2017 #40 Share Posted October 5, 2017 I just cut the outline of the tag out and fold that in half to slide in the holder. That way the information is visible from both side of the tag. Ordered mine from Amazon...love them!! I love mi e so much I give them as gifts. cruzeluver Posted October 5, 2017 #42 Share Posted October 5, 2017 We are firmly in the multi-fold, not-cutting camp of luggage taggers. We are also among the dedicated clear packing tape reinforcers. And lastly, we count ourselves among the luggage-tags-even-for-carry-ons-put-on-ers. Think that covers everything. DaniDanielle Posted October 5, 2017 #43 Share Posted October 5, 2017 I like printing them and putting the clear packing tape on them. And carry a little stapler and put them on before handing over the suit case. But that is just me. That is how we do it! Strong and never a problem! woldig120 Posted October 7, 2017 #44 Share Posted October 7, 2017 Our travel agent send us clear plastic luggage tag holders for each cruise. We have several spares so if anybody is on the Freedom on 28th January 2018 I will bring them. WE copy the paper luggage tags and then laminate them. Punch a hole in one end and tie them to the handle on the case. Cannot be damaged by water and not easily pulled off.
