noofyodabu Posted July 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2017 We recently booked our first Oceania Cruise and will be disembarking in Amsterdam. We are trying to decide whether to use miles to fly back or use Oceania air. Our concern is that if you want to get back to the States in one day, it looks as though the latest flights leaving from Amsterdam all leave no later than 10:55 am. Since the ship docks at 7 am, we have tried contacting Oceania and asking them what times they usually book travellers on flights out of Amsterdam so we have some idea of what is a reasonable departure time, but all they will tell us is that it varies and that they won't have the Oceania air options available until a few months before the cruise. Has anyone ever flown back from Amsterdam after a cruise and is it reasonable to try and catch a flight between 10 and 11? Thanks in advance for your help. Rare LHT28 Posted July 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2017 It depends where you are flying to in the US If you are planning on doing a deviation for the outbound flight you can choose the airline & time 270 days in advance & also do the inbound at the same time (if available) If just flying in the same day as cruise then you may not know the routing/airline until 75 days out Check http://matrix.itasoftware.com/ to see what flights are available to your home airport on the date you need There are later flights but not know where you are flying to it would be hard to guess if there are any to your home city airport

Paulchili Posted July 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 2, 2017 LHT28, great web page, thanks for posting it. Never saw this one. Rick Yes it is. Use it exclusively for flight schedules and routing. Shows most legacy airlines but not LCC carriers (Southwest, Ryan, etc). While it gives prices you cannot book on that site - it's strictly a flight search engine. Eenjinusa Posted July 2, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 2, 2017 Last flight of the day from Amsterdam to the US leaves at 6p for JFK. There as still quite some Delta&KLM flights after 11a. Sent from my iPad using Forums
buggins0402 Posted July 2, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 2, 2017 As Lyn said, it definitely depends to which airport you are flying. For us in Detroit, Delta has a 3 pm from AMS which would get us home in time for dinner and I have flown early flights out of there and gone into work for the afternoon. AMS is one of the largest European hubs for Skyteam (the airline group that Delta is in).
LAexNY Posted July 2, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 2, 2017 As a general rule, O will not book you on a flight that leaves before noon on disembarking day. This is true even with a deviation. We tried to get an 11 AM flight out of Miami but were told it was too early.
