It should have been easy to find an email address but Cunard doesn't seem to have a public one for customer service. I did find their internal messaging system here: https://ask.cunard.com/help/cunard/contact-us

 

 

Another alternative might be posting on one of their social media pages. Sometimes they will respond there with "please contact us at..."

 

I'm sorry that an unresolved issue is putting a cloud over your vacation.

Anyone have an address or email address for whomever is at the head of Cunard (not Carnival)? I am currently onboard QM2 and having an issue that I would like to report when I get home. Thank you. Katherine.

 

If you wish to keep the matter on the ship, then wiuld suggest a meeting with The Hotel Manager. Or have they already faild you?

This deals with the casino. There are a few small gambling groups onboard. Most have gotten free cabins and drinks in the casino. At their request, the casino manager raised the 2 blackjack tables to a $25 minimum so the gambling groups can always get a seat. Now, the regular, paying passengers can't play unless willing to play high stakes. The gambling group people are still not happy (by the way, all red cards) because the casino is so small and the machines are so old -- something they were not aware of before boarding.

 

My way of thinking -- the QM2 casino is for the entertainment of all passengers -- not just a select few. I hear from the folks in the casino "It was the casino managers decision." I just would like to make my displeasure known to corporate.

How does a red card get a comped room? It's obviously not based on their Cunard rating h they didn't have one before boarding.

 

I can see getting drink comps based on their onboard play to date. Are you sure they're in a comped room on this trip?

Yes, through a host or hostess. One man (who is a gambling host) was called by Cunard to see if he could gather up some people to come on this trip. A woman I had breakfast with today said she paid about $180 dollars for the port charges and taxes and that was it.

 

I have seen this on other lines where these hosts have some type of business where they negotiate with casinos. The people on this trip have been to, many casinos, of course, but 99% had not been on Cunard until now.

Underwatr, someone tried to explain this to me years ago in the QM2 casino. Can't say I understand what it's all about, but for those who spend more money than I do (which is just about anyone who goes to the casino :)) there are ways to get comped on rooms and drinks, etc. even if it's your first trip on a particular Cunard ship - as long as you have built up a history of spending in the casino, and are members of Carnival Players Club < that's where the rating comes into play.

I believe that the Casino is run by a different company, not by Cunard

 

I also have the impression that casino workers are not Cunard employees. But while the casino may be a franchise (or a separate Carnival entity), Players Club membership applies to all ships in the Carnival fleet, including Cunard. https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1146/~/casino-and-carnival-players-club%C2%AE

Lady Hudson: Sorry this is happening. If I had been on your voyage, I would be furious. I spend way too much time playing blackjack in the QM2 casino (too much time in terms of my budget!), so I am sensitive to the way it is run. On our last crossing, just a few weeks ago, I found the management of the casino to be unfriendly and downright depressed. The dealers were fine and friendly, but all the pit bosses were nasty and depressed, as though they all hated their jobs. It created an unpleasant atmosphere in the casino, very different than my many other experiences on the QM2. There were a couple of nights that I avoided the casino since I could no longer take their nasty depressed attitudes. So I wish you luck in pursuing this. I'm not sure whom the casino staff work for. There is some relation to Carnival Corporate since I know staff move from one Carnival ship to another. I don't have any hope that writing on this forum will reach anyone in charge, nor I am confident that comments on your comment card or on the on-line survey will help, since they now provide limited opportunity to thoroughly explain one's concerns. But I do feel for you. This is a shame.

I have to agree with you tv24. It is a shame, considering how much fun the casino was years ago. The atmosphere at the tables recently is very different, and has been going down-hill for years.

In desperation to keep the shrunken, outdated casino viable, high stake gamblers are more welcome than loyal passengers...well, we'll see how long that profit margin holds!

I've never used the casino, but have been there with friends who are regular visitors, they all greatly enjoy themselves; indeed with one or two, visits form a substantial part of their on board routine.

Therefore I think it is wrong for this part of the ship to be virtually out of bounds to other passengers. Esp. if those other passengers weren't told before final balance, that this was to be a feature of the trip (with opportunity to cancel/postpone at no cost to the passenger, plus compensation to cover cancelled flights/hotels etc).

Those of us with previous experience book again based on that experience. To find that the cruise or crossing is diminished by something that is known by Cunard in advance of sailing, but not advertised or communicated to potential passengers, strikes me as underhand (at best).

Offering complimentary accommodation to high spenders is a standard practice in hotels with 'gaming' licences.

 

I discovered at the Marina Bay Sands in March that they allocate THREE floors for them.

 

Cunard obviously aren't at the bottom of the learning curve.

Hardly 'out of bounds' Pepperrn, I understand the real gripe is the stakes have been raised on the two blackjack tables.

 

Frankly I would probably see it as an opportunity to either lose my money faster and then head off to enjoy something else or, the other side of the coin, win handsomely and buy some more future credits.

 

Seriously though, I'd have thought the imposition of the higher limits could be 'time optioned' for these high rollers.

You are correct in so far as the casino workers are not Cunard employees but are employed by the Carnival casino entity and can find themselves contract to contract posted to Cunard, Princess or one of the other lines. I know this only by talking to one or two of the staff whom l have got to know over the years. Generally speaking Cunard is a less popular posting as the casino is very quiet compared to other lines.

 

The current difficulties surrounding the players club members may be exacerbated by the fact that the casino is now very much reduced in size, which doesn't allow scope for the occasional player to coexist with these seemingly more serious types. A good manager should ensure there is room for all nevertheless.

I just realized that this cruise is the 5 day one. I can imagine that the corporate powers decided that this was a great cruise to offer to the high rollers. They embark in NYC and debark there also over a holiday period. . I am not saying that this is a good idea, but I believe it would be the one in the heads of Cunard Corporate.

My experience with any of the shorter/taster cruises is that they are not anywhere near the quality of the regular Cunard cruises. (or any cruise line for that matter)

Hi bananavan. I've taken the 5-day Independence Day cruise several times. The fares are higher than most other cruises from NY, and historically this is the only short cruise offered on this side of the pond. Personally, I don't think this cruise compares based on the complaints I've read about on some other short cruises, but unfortunately, that might be changing.
