CazV Posted July 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2017 I pre-booked 3 NCL excursions on my credit card through the UK website, so paid in UK pounds. The ship couldn't dock in one of the ports so the cost of the cancelled excursion was refunded, but rather than a credit back to my credit card (which I assumed would be the case) the amount was added to my on board account in $. Apparently I now need to await a refund cheque through the post. My credit card bill is now due for payment but my refund cheque hasn't arrived. I've been home for 2 weeks. Does anyone have any experience of this? How long is usual to wait for this refund to arrive?
don't-use-real-name Posted July 15, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 15, 2017 A mailed check should have been received within 30 days. You may have a few more days yet - mailing USA to the UK ? NCL main office Miami FL. To insure your credit status with your Credit Card company is not compromised call them and file a report. Things to review: NCL may have credited the SX to your on board account as OBC. Possible you had NON-Refundable OBC and the refundable version. Things could have been mixed up. Normally OBC that is remaining and the amount is under a small amount you can go to the Guest Relations counter and get it prior to disembarking. If the amount is over that then a check is made available either in person or mailed to an address on file. NON-Refundable OBC is forfeited. If the SX was not charged to account and you were to receive the promo perk of $50 applied on the account that too is void. Find out if your SX credit was misapplied to the wrong OBC ? Still have the disembarking invoice ? Anything odd unusual - credits applied ? Hope everything clicks into place timely for you ! Call NCL if it doesn't - NCL have local phone # in the UK ? deb_buffy Posted July 15, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 15, 2017 Our refund took 30 days to come through. Sent from my SM-G930F using Forums mobile app
CazV Posted July 15, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted July 15, 2017 Thanks both... ridiculous amount of time to wait! I'll just pay my CC bill as I had budgeted for it anyway... but it's annoying to have to do so. I did go to guest services and that's when I was advised a cheque would be posted, so for now I guess I have to assume I'll receive it within the next couple of weeks. MaNPaM Posted July 15, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 15, 2017 I am still waiting for a refund from NCL from our cruise the first week of June. Time to email again I suppose.
zqvol Posted July 15, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 15, 2017 Don't expect anything in less than 30 days, and it is often closer to 45.
Blondie008 Posted July 16, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 16, 2017 NCL can and do issue BACS payments - give UK guest relations a call - Did you follow it up when you came home or are you relying on Miami? Who even uses cheques anymore? (hmm people who want to hold on to their money that's who). NCL EU and UK for a fact I know - can remit by BACS. Try ringing them and pushing for a BACS payment. I thought the exact same thing about the use of cheques! Thanks for the advice... it didn't occur to me that they would have a UK customer service line... I'll try calling them. Tiggertastic Posted October 19, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 19, 2017 I realise this is a few months old but wondered if the OP got their refund Our cruise was cancelled due to the hurricane in September, we got the refund for the cruise straight to the card in 7 days but the refund for the shore excursions and the meals still has not arrived. NCL insist they refunded it on the 14 September but I haven't got the money through. I've spoken with them many times and now trying the credit card route to get it back. Just interested if there is another solution out there or knowledge of where this money could of gone as NCL are just shrugging their shoulders with a 'well we refunded it' and it's apparently my problem to find it. CazV Posted October 19, 2017 Author #12 Share Posted October 19, 2017 Yes I eventually got my refund. I called UK customer services who had it paid back onto my Credit Card... I do wonder if I would ever have received it had I not chased it up. I hope you get yours sorted out Tiggertastic.

I managed to get a copy of the refund recent from ncl to send to my bank as proof so they can try and trace where the money went as it didn't come to me. At last count I've been on the phone to ncl 15 times and the bank 4 times. Sent from my iPad using Forums
